"Sorry. Clark's playing big brother again, even though he's sick and he's the reason we ended up going to the movie alone." Pete grinned at Chloe as his phone rang on Chloe's doorstep.

"That's cool!" Chloe said, ogling the list of songs for all of Pete's friends. "What's mine?" Chloe asked, scanning the list.

"Uhm, well-" Pete said, fumbling over his words as he tried to get the cell phone back. Chloe pushed a button and listened to the ring tone closely.

"Beautiful." Chloe said, looking up at Pete.

"You are." Pete said, slipping the phone back in his pocket. "I've always thought you were."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Chloe asked, almost hurt by the years of lying.

"Uhm, Clark? Lana? Big drama? Feel free to just pick one." Pete replied.

"Good point. But what's stopping you know?" Chloe asked, looking up at Pete.

"Your Dad may be looking at us from the window." Pete whispered.

"Screw it. I'll deal with that." Chloe breathed back. "What's stopping-" Chloe stopped as Pete leaned down and shut her mouth himself.

Their kiss was interrupted by Chloe's phone ringing.

"Papa Don't Preach. Nice." Pete asked.

"It's my dad. I'd better go in." Chloe said, grinning at Pete sheepishly as she slipped into her house.
