DISCLAIMER: Don't own MASH just a fan who likes to play with the characters every now and again. Also the song is not mine...it is a piece of Handel's I heard at a music festival a few years ago and it made me think so of Charles and his great love for music.

"Art thou troubled? Music will calm thee, art thou weary? Rest shall be thine. Music source of all gladness, heals they sadness at her shrine…"

Grand'Mere had always told him that music was the source of all happiness. It would bring you through anything. And so he had loved music…not just loved music, he had been a lover of music. He had let the spirit claim him, let the voices of each instrument and singer carry him, let it take him by the hand and lead him to another place, far from wherever he was…

"Music, music, ever divine, music, music calleth with voice divine.

When the welcome spring in smiling, all the earth will flow'r beguiling, after winter's dreary reign.

Sweetest music doth attend her, heavenly harmonies doth lead her, chanting praises in her train…"

He didn't expect them to understand, he didn't expect anyone to understand. No one ever had before…not his parents, his sister thought him crazy…but he supposed, after their brother's death, they all went a little crazy. His music, still yet carried him and called him to the place where spring would never end…the darkness and dreariness of winter never prevailed.

The sweet voice, sweet call…the sweetest kindness.

"Art thou troubled? Music will calm thee…" he spoke aloud, reading from the small book, the page in her own curvy script. Handel's Art Thou Troubled had always been Grand 'Mere's favorite piece, and his too…

…that is….

…until recently…

Now and forever more would he view music different. His divine wonder, the grand sanctuary…gone. Now he could only see the faces, hear the scratchy sound of those tired instruments…he would be covered in blood, instead of feeling the warmth of the springtime sun…and in the place of the fresh scent…the scent of death…

He would search continuously for the peace it had brought so long ago…hoping to once again escape…

"For me, music was always a refuge from this horrible place. And now, it will always be a reminder."(Actual quote)

"Art thou troubled? Music will calm thee..

Art thou weary? Rest shall be thine…

Music source of all gladness, heals thy sadness at her shrine…

Music, music, ever divine.

Music, music, calleth with voice divine…"
