Tony sat on the steps that lead down to the basement. He watched Gibbs as he sanded his newest boat. Tony was always amazed at how much effort that man put into his carpentry. Which lead him to, once again, be amazed at how much effort Gibbs had put into their relationship. At first he had been hesitant. But Tony had picked at the lock that was secured to Gibbs' heart until finally Gibbs let him in. He shared his secrets, his thoughts, memories and feelings, something Tony realised was hard for the older man to do. Deep down Tony had known, or guessed, most of what Gibbs had to say. Maybe it was the curiosity that had got him guessing, maybe it was just that intense love he felt for Gibbs. Either way it was for certain that he loved him. So it was at that exact moment when Gibbs turned to look at Tony. Tony caught sight of those piercing, loving blue eyes. A smile crept onto his face and he found himself subconsciously getting up and walking over to Gibbs. He was kindly rewarded with a smile from the other man. It was a smile that had been very rarely seen outside of the house. But over the past few weeks Tony had seen this smile appear when they were out, when they were at work, and this pleased Tony to no end.
"Why do you have to be so darn perfect," Gibbs said as he pulled Tony into his arms. It was a statement not a question.
"I'm not," Tony replied as he breathed in that familiar scent of sawdust and coffee and something uniquely Gibbs.
"But you are. You are perfect for me and that's just how it is," Gibbs smiled.
"I love you," Tony said.
"I love you too," Gibbs replied before dipping his head and kissing Tony.
