A/N: Okay, had finals today and was ready to call it a day when I realized today was 12-12-12. So naturally, even if it is totally short and pointless, I have to write something for Final Fantasy 12 today.
There was something otherworldly about the Salikawood. It was so unlike all of Ivalice. There was monsters of course, though many of them docile, but the entire wood seemed peaceful, quiet except for the occasional chirps and squeaks. The sunlight shone through the thin leaves from above dying the entire wood a light green, the bright light breaking through the leaves every few steps, kissing the cheek warmly. The breeze was fresh and warm, the wind from the not far off coast rustling the winds.
Penelo was absolutely astounded the first time they had first seen the Salikawood, growing up in the arid desert where even the smallest bit of vegetation was rare. Though they had visited Golmore prior, it was dark and loud and suffocating, like the air itself wanted to squeeze the very life out of a hume. Nothing could quite compare.
It was a rare chance that the group of travelers had, to relax, but after a particularly difficult hunt, they had decided to rest under its branches. Penelo wandered off on her own, knowing she would not use it, but just in case keeping a dagger at her side. Wandering aimlessly along the creaking, decaying wood bridges and thick trunks, time seemed to stand still.
The young girl eventually came to a patch of leaves and grass that clung to the bark, dry and soft. She could not help but fall back onto it, be embraced by the scent of flowers and dirt. Drops of sunlight danced on her light skin, warmth spreading like water.
Penelo felt something fuzzy rub against her bare arm. It was the white fur of Wyrdhare, sniffing cautiously at the unfamiliar body in the woods. After a moment, it nuzzled against her, crawling into her arms. It let out a small squeak of joy at her body heat. Penelo could not help but giggle.
She had meant to close them for only a moment, to soak in the Salikawood into her, but found them suddenly heavy, and, by the lullaby of wind and birds and sun, was lulled to peaceful sleep.
A/N: Did this in about...ten minutes, so please excuse it. Had no time to work on it but need something out.
I really love Salikawood as a place I would just kill to take a nap. That and the Ozome Plains, though they're more dangerous. I also thing the Wyrdhares are cute, fluffy, and docile and would want to hug one.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please review. Thank you!
