Peter Parker was walking down the halls of school on a normal weekday, shuffling himself down the hallway tiredly, yawning often. He had been up late last night caught in a battle with some second-rate villain, and by the time he'd gotten a chance to go home and get some sleep, he had to get back up for school. So basically, he'd gotten virtually no sleep the night before.
As he fumbled with the lock on his locker, MJ approached him with a smile on her face. She saw how tired he was from the other end of the hallway.
"Was someone up too late last night playing video games?" She asked teasingly. Since he couldn't tell her the real reason he was tired, he knew he had to go along with her guess.
"Yeah," He said with a yawn. "I should try not to do that in the future. I'm exhausted." He lied. MJ chuckled.
"Someone should really get you a watch." She joked.
"Tee hee."
"Hey, listen, I have a few hours free tonight, wanna hang out?" She asked. As much as Peter wanted to, he knew he couldn't. He had a training session with the team after school. He'd be gone all afternoon.
"I-I'd love to, but I'm busy…got a lot of…stuff to do at home…" Peter lied. He hated making up excuses. For starters, he wasn't one for lying, and second of all, he was no good at it and he knew it.
"Yeah, that's been happening a lot lately…" She said angrily, walking away. Peter sighed. The only thing he hated about being a superhero in disguise was the lying. It felt like all he ever did was lie to the ones closest to him, the ones he trusted most. He wanted more than anything to tell at least one of them, but he knew not to. He'd wanted Harry to know, and he would've told him if he hadn't come to his senses so soon. Harry had trusted him with his secret identity as Venom, but he couldn't return the favor. What a friend. Friend of the year right here, he thought.
He watched his friend of over ten years walk away from him, angry at him for the millionth time that week. It was true, they hadn't spent quality time together in a long time. Since he'd signed on with SHIELD, his schedule had been booked more than he liked. He never had time to just kick back and relax with his friends and act like a normal teenager, and when he did, it was disrupted by his superhero duties. He knew MJ was starting to think he didn't want to hang out with her anymore. She knew when he was lying, and he knew when she could tell. And he hated it. He hadn't lied to her ever before…not until he'd become Spiderman. Once he had become Spiderman, he knew he had to keep his identity a secret, so that's when the lies had started pouring out. And since then, he hated every stupid fake word that came out of his mouth. And believe you me, that is a lot of hate.
His teammates came up from behind him and they walked to class together.
"Another pathetic lie?" Sam asked.
"Yep…" Peter said with a sigh.
"Hey, we all gotta make sacrifices. It's just part of being a superhero." Luke said, giving him a pat on the back.
Yeah, this was short and really rather pointless. But it's just my way of putting myself into the fandom for this awesome show. I just figured I'd introduce myself, and get my feet wet in the Ultimate Spiderman fandom. Sorta provide a bottom step for future stories I may want to write for the show. And I couldn't really think of anything better, so this is what came out. 'N stuff. So yeah…review!
