Confined
Looks of hatred and words of cruelty
A sole child amidst it all
He shows neither fear nor signs of defeat
He keeps his head held high and walks with steady steps
On the outside, that is
On the inside he is falling apart
He would never show it, though
He would never show any weakness to their mercilessness
He would never show any skills
Or wisdom
For that would only frighten them more
He could not afford to be looked upon as a danger
So he settled with idiocy
He spent his childhood ridiculing himself
Trying to prove that he was no threat
He had succeeded in his quest
He had turned himself into the village fool
He was now looked down upon
He was thought to be inferior to all
Only he himself knew of the truth
Only he knew that his entire life was a lie
Or, perhaps, a mask?
Yes, he had masked his identity and created a new
Concealed his true self
Because of a seal created so long ago
And he had accepted that fact
Because the village had needed a sacrifice
A life broken for a thousand saved
And he was left alone
But it was alright
Because he had always known
That freedom was never meant for him
