AN: A little drabble for my friend HeartsHungBehind. You really should read some of her fics if you have time. Wonderful!

Word count: 300 (yes. exactly 300.)

Hope you enjoy! A side note: I don't own AiW. Tim Burton and Lewis Carroll do. Darn them. :(

Mirana's grubby fingers dug down deeper for another worm to add to her mud pie. Why must these things be so abnormally pesky?

"Mother will have your head, sister! Look at your dress!"

The younger sister turned her head in the direction of her eldest sister, Iracbeth, who stood at the side door to the main courtyard with a chiding look adorned across her face.

"Mummy will do no such thing!" The child stuck out her tongue at Iracbeth, throwing a handful of mud in her elder sister's direction. A Cheshire smile spread across her face as a satisfying SLAP! echoed back to her, followed by a wonderful scream of disgust from Iracbeth.

"DADDY!" – A slam of the side door was heard afterwards.

Mirana snickered under her hand, continuing the search for a garnish of worms on her succulent pie. A sweet melody hummed her vocal chords as she worked, the mud and pebbles engraining themselves deep within the small child's fingernails as she continued to dig up the courtyard.

"Good morning, pretty maid,
Where are you going?
To range these fields so fair,
There's no man knowing,
I think too bold you are,
To range these fields so fair,
In danger everywhere,
Thou charming maiden…
"

The dear girl was soon fast asleep. Her dreams! Of blue butterflies, and sweet smoke rings, they were! Her father, who had been lurking, smiling, in the bushes nearby, crept up behind the child while she slumbered in the gardens. He gently took her into his arms, while he gathered her skirts and carried her to her bedroom. The child lay there; sound asleep, until mother called for supper. She had a fit when little Mirana came into the dining hall with her skirts dirtied; the child simply laughed.

"All in a day's work!"

AN: R+R please? :) I'd love to improve XD
