A/N: I know it's different than usual, but I thought I'd take a quick break from Lily/James. I don't really like how people perceive Petunia to be this women who was always mean, even as a child. I think she still loved Lily, even though she didn't act like it. She was her bloody sister, after all. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this and please review.
Disclaimer: It's not mine, I swear! I didn't take it! I just borrowed it from the fantastic J.K. Rowling!
Dear Petunia,
I know you probably won't read this but if you do I just want you to know that I love you and I miss you. I miss when we were kids, before the letter came, when we used to dance around the room and have tea parties and pretend we were princesses. Do you remember that Tuney? I do. I remember that one time when I ran through the poison ivy in the forest by the park we always played at. You taped mittens to my hands so I wouldn't itch it. You did the same when I got chicken pox. Then you got them. We were a mess, but you still made me laugh so hard. You were always taking care of me when we were kids, Tuney. I miss talking to you. I wish we were still close and I hate how my magic tore us apart. I hate that I was never able to go to my big sister when I had boy troubles. I needed you, Tuney. I still do.
Mum told me you got married. I hope the wedding was as wonderful as you always hoped. I hope he takes care of you and buys you all the pretty things you deserve. I don't think that anyone will ever be good enough for you, in my opinion, but as long as he loves you and your happy then I'm okay with him.
Guess what else, Tuney? I'm getting married! Oh, he's wonderful, he really is. His name's James Potter. I'm going to be Mrs. James Potter! He's smart, funny and utterly gorgeous. All the girls in our year wanted him, but he picked me, Tuney! Can you believe it? He loves me. He loves me so much, he's been telling me so for years. I just can't believe it took me so long to realize that I loved him too. The wedding is on the 26th of June, the invitation is enclosed in the envelope. I hope you come, Tuney. It would mean the world to me if you did. I don't care what you wear or if you stay for the reception, it would just mean so much to me to have my big sister with me on my wedding day.
There's another reason I'm writing this letter to you, Tuney. After the wedding James and I have to go into hiding. I won't be able to write to you or see you for a long time and, well Tuney, I might die. You see, there's this man, I'm not even sure if he's human enough to be called a man anymore and his name is Lord Voldemort. He doesn't think wizards who don't have all wizard descendants deserve magic. So, he kills wizards who have muggle parents. Wizards like me. It's disgusting what he and his followers do, they torture and kill muggles for fun. We wanted to fight back, so my old Headmaster, Dumbledore, created this thing called The Order of the Phoenix. The Order of the Phoenix fights against Voldemort, to keep muggles and muggleborns safe. I've fought as much as I can, but now, James and I can do no more. He's coming after us and I can't tell you why yet, but I will, when the time is right.
If you don't come to the wedding, please, at least write back. I need to hear from you, Tuney. I need to know that you are safe and happy.
Love, your little sister,
Lily Evans, soon to be Potter.
