Despite being sent home early from her tour in Kandahar due to her shoulder, Grace was excited to finally be arriving home. She honestly did not know how
long she'd be home for, or even if she would go back on combat. However, she knew that this did not have to be dealt with this right now. There were more
important issues that needed to be addressed and that included her shoulder.
.
After suffering a gunshot wound to her right shoulder, Grace was sent home as she was declared too injured to fully administer her job and surrounding duties.
She knew if this had been her non dominant hand, there might have been a chance she could stay.
.
Grace arrived in Australia at 2am and was on her way home an hour later. She became excited as she knew no one was expecting her home and that she could
surprise them, and avoid being surprised and fussed over-something that Grace was never a fan of and that provoked her stubbornness.
.
Shortly later, she arrived home. With her free arm, she carried her drunk up the set of outdoor iron stares and to the door of her apartment. She noted that
things had changed since she left, the building was now an off white stone and that more plants surrounded the grounds.
Once inside Grace placed everything down and sighed as she took in a deep breath, it was a wonderful feeling to be home. Grace wanted to savor the moment
before she turned the lights on. She pictured her kitchen and living room looking just as she left it, her end tables filled with photographs of her family, the
curtain to the balcony tossing with the breeze. The smell of wet grass that surrounded the stream behind the building...
.
*Thunk*
.
Grace crashed to the floor.
