AN:Thought of this one day and I thought I'd make the first chapter. we'll see how far I take it (as in I already have the last few chapters written in my head, I'm just not overly great building up to it. oh well, We'll see) Also important to note, This is more or less based on the Horton Hears a Who book as opposed to the movie
- May 15th 1954 –
All was quiet in the little town. The world went by in its odd little way. But it was peaceful. But all of that was about to change as in the public square something new was happening. Something unexpected. And yet, nobody seemed to pay any attention. As if it was the things always were.
*whoosh…..whoooosh…..whooooooossssshhhhhh…WHOOOOOO OSH!*
And there it was. A blue box. Nobody seemed to notice, but then again with the perception filter, people rarely ever noticed. They always thought it had always been there. It just seemed to fit there so perfectly, how could it have not been there all along?
"A-Ha!" said a voice as the doors opened. "Here we are Pond! Rio!"
Out from behind him came a red headed girl in her late teens clearly dressed for a hot climate. "Ugh. Doctor, you've fowled it up again!"
"What? this isn't Rio?"
"Doctor, does this look like Rio?!"
"Well, no, but this place is…cool" said the Doctor
"This coming from the guy who can't stop going on about the dorky bow-tie"
Whirling around to face her he immediately retorted back "bowtie's are cool"
"Can we just go? I've been waiting for Rio. I'm dressed for Rio. And you said we'd go, but instead we stopped at that drill and met the lizard people"
The Doctor, looking quite annoyed started heading back for the TARDIS "Oh alright. I'll never understand what it is with you humans and your rush rush rush. Why can't you stop and enjoy where you are? Why can't you…"
"I'll enjoy where I am, when where I am is in Rio!" came the voice of Amy already inside the TARDIS"
The Doctor couldn't help but smile to himself. Amy was just so…human. And he really did love every minute of it "Alright then let's see, Rio…Rio Rio Rio….ah! Here we are! Off we go then!" He said pulling a lever on the console, but no sooner had he done that had the TARDIS lurched and spurned, before sitting dead "No no no! what are you doing ol' girl?"
"Doctor, what's going on? Why aren't we in Rio?"
"Oh it's always Rio with you. The TARDIS just refused to move and you're not even the least bit concerned why?!"
"I am concerned why! I'm concerned as to why we're still here and not relaxing on a beach somewhere!" Retorted Amy
"Oh alright then" Said the Doctor looking rather defeated and annoyed. Eyeing another screen he said: "Seems as though the size manipulator has short circuited. Which is odd. I mean the only reason it would've even been on was if we'd changed in size. So then…where in the universe are we.." The Doctor twirled his way over to another screen. "hmmm May 15th 1956 in the Jungle of Nool"
"Doctor, we were just outside," replied Amy. "there was no jungle. We're in the middle of a large city. So how are we in this Jungle of Nool?"
"Right you are Pond! So I say we need to do some exploring. Find out what's what, why the TARDIS thinks we're in a jungle, and be part of time, Geronimo!"
"So Much for Rio" Amy muttered to herself
