Forbidden Whispers

Hi guys! I've been reviewing fan fic for what seems like ages now, so I decided that I'd see how well I'd do writing for a bit, instead of just reading others. This is really just an experiment, so review if you want (it would be appreciated!)

They meet, every now and then. On that very balcony, where they could see all over the garden, yet they were completely alone. Captured by the innocence of first love, yet what they were doing was completely forbidden.

He was dating someone else, as was she. But the heart cannot be turned down by a simple rule. The heart wants what it wants, no matter how cruelly it affects the lives of those around them.

These secret meetings had to stop. Yet every time he opened his mouth to tell her, he was overcome by her beauty, her charm, her.

He needed her so much that it hurt him to think of life without her warm smile, and her eyes burning into his, with such passion that he couldn't resist her.

He had no idea if she loved him back, really. He had told her that he loved her, yet all she did was smile. She loved her real boyfriend, he knew that. But nothing would stop him from wanting her. Needing her.

So he waited, once again, on that balcony. Waited for her. He bowed his head down. Today he was going to tell her. Tell her that this had to stop. He loved her more than life itself, yet he knew that so many lives would be destroyed if anyone found out.

And then she arrived, her hair whipped around by the wind, her eyes blazing into his. Knowing that this was the last time they could meet. This had to stop; he knew it couldn't continue, although trying not to love her was an impossible task.

They embraced, and even when she backed away, he held on, grabbing her hands.

"I need to tell you something" he whispered, his voice hoarse. He was going to cry. But he had to do this.

"Me too" she replied, her eyes misted over. They displayed a longing for something. Was it him she longed for?

"I just wanted to say…"

"No, I must speak"

He became silent, waiting for her. Her eyes shut slowly, as though she was in pain, she opened her mouth.

"I love you, Irvine"

She fell into his arms, burying her face into his chest. He held her. Now was the time. The time to tell her that they could not see each other anymore. His heart ached, and he felt as though he was falling away from her, although she was only gripping him tighter and tighter.

She loved him. That was all he needed, for now. Forget all the pain he will cause to those around him, when he tells them. Right now he has her, and she has him. They have everything they will ever need. He cannot tell her.

He looks down at her, and she raises her eyes to meet his.

"I love you too, Rinoa"

And that forbidden whisper echoed around them as they embraced on that balcony.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed that! Review if you want, but really this was just an experiment with a random FF8 pairing (yes, it is a slightly unusual pairing!) just to really see how the site works, and test my own abilities as a fan fic writer. Please don't be nasty just because you don't like the pairing. I'm actually not a big fan, either, but I just really wanted to get a taste of fan fic and match up a random couple, just to see if it worked! Love ya,

Selphie-Ivy
