Robin nervously drew her sword, looking at the masked figure in front of her. Her wounds were already staining the sand brown, and the others were too far to help.
She knew this was the end. Nothing flashed before her eyes, no pain came as she heard the twang of the bowstring. Only a sickening cry, and the thud of a body hitting the ground at her feet. She cautiously opened one eye, and gasped. Ricken lay, on the ground with the arrow protruding from his chest. Robins battle instinct took over, as she races forward and slashed the steel sword through the neck of the Plegian soldier before collapsing against the rock.
She let out a sigh of pain, relief and fear for her friends who had fallen in battle, before her consciousness began to fade away. She vaguely heard a voice shouting at her to open her eyes, that he needed her. She raised her hand and forced her eyes open for a second, she saw Chrom. He took her hand and glared at her. She went limp as the world faded into black.
"Shes coming to." Said a familiar voice, belonging to Lissa.
"Oh gods i'm sorry!" began another voice, "I should have been stronger I should have helped you guys!" Cried Sumia, rushing forward and vigorously hugging Robin. She winced and gently pushed Sumia away, mustering a smile.
"You did great... I am glad you are okay- you were unconciouss most of the battle." Robin said, breathing heavily.
"Stahl, Sumia and Virion are all awake, patched up and ready for battle. Don't worry Robin." Lissa said kindly, helping Robin sit up.
Robin let out a sigh of relief, and smiled. "Thats good." She said, before a horrible though occured to her.
"What about Ricken? Hes a hero, he saved me!" She said, glancing round to see if he was there.
Sumia started twisting her hair round her finger, and Lissa looked away.
"What- is he alive?" Robin asked. She knew what the awkward silence meant. Either he wasnt doing good, or he was dead.
"Yes- barely." Lissa said, a tear running down her cheek.
"Its all my fault! I shouldn't have let him take the arrow!" Robin cried, standing up as suddenly a wave of vertigo made her sit back down again. She began to sob. Lissa sat down next to her, and put a sympathetic arm over her shoulder.
"Hes still alive... That has to count for something." she said uncertianly.
"Hes so young! I let a kid get hurt, whats wron-" she was interrupted by a sudden punch to the face.
"Ouch..." She said, rubbing her cheek and looking up at Sumia.
"What was that for?" Lissa asked, standing up.
"Stop beating yourself up Robin! We need a tactitian, not a... Oh right, thats a punch... A slap is with the palm of your hand..." Sumia said, starting out angry but turning embarrased.
"I... I think I will be going now." She said, making a hurried exit of the room.
"I deserved it." Robin sighed.
Lissa looked as of she was about to say something, but the door opened suddenly, revealling Vaike.
"I-its Ricken." He said, in a melancholy voice.
"He... Hes..." He began, shutting his eyes and biting his lip.
"No! No he can't..." Lissa sobbed, Robin just held her breath. Too many emotions were going through her head.
"Hes awake!" Vaikes pained expression turned to a smirk. "Ol' Teach got ya, didn't he?" He laughed, almost doubling overas spasms of laughter ran through his body.
"You know that really isnt funny!" Lissa said angrily, her hands on her hips. She smacked Vaike over the head with her staff.
"I know bopping people over the head with blunt objects is a way of communication, as 'ol' Teach' taught me!" She yelled, her cheeks flushing a crimson shade of red.
