Greetings, prospective readers! Welcome to my very first Fire Emblem story, starring the ever-so-adorable Princess Kana, daughter of Corrin. Well, the male one anyways. Funny story actually, I tried out Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest merely on a whim, and I instantly got hooked on it. So much so that I got the Revelation DLC and the Smash 4 Corrin DLC. Now, all I need is Birthright and Heirs of Fate, and my experience will be complete. Then I might turn my gaze to Awakening… anyways, we're getting off topic. The idea for this one came to me when I did a bit of digging into the child characters for Fates, and when I read that Kana's fate was to and I quote, "travel the world doing good," I saw the perfect opportunity to get my feet wet in writing for this franchise. Now, since I've been told that incest is rife across the marriage system, and although I prefer Corrin x Azura because of the fact that you get two Level Ten characters out of the deal as opposed to just one, I decided that, owing to the fact that a lot of people I've met online are of the belief that Corrin x Azura is in bad taste, I've decided to make Felicia Kana's mother and the Queen of Valla, while Azura, Shigure, and whoever Azura ends up with (haven't decided yet) are nobles in the Royal Family. Now, speaking of Nobles, I need your help with something. As this follows the Revelation and Heirs of Fate version of events, I will be setting up a poll, asking you guys which class I should give Kana when the story starts properly: Nohrian Noble, or Hoshidan Noble? Now then, I've babbled long enough, let us begin!
Prologue: Dragon Blood
Deeprealm 95-A Small Mountain Village
The door to the small house at the highest point of Kakariko Village opened, and from inside emerged what looked to be a girl with silvery hair tied up in a bun wearing a large blue bandana and a suit of silver and black armor. Attached to her armor was a small steel dagger for use in emergencies. While the girl looked to be around the age of eight or nine, in truth she was actually only an infant. However, due to the greatly accelerated flow of time in the Deeprealms of the astral plane, she had gone from a babe to a child in the blink of an eye. The girl's name was Kana, and she was the daughter of Prince Corrin of… well, nowhere in particular at the moment, and Felicia, a maid from the Ice Tribe who had served her father for several years prior to their marriage.
"Ahh! What a lovely day! I might just break out into song! And twirl the whole day long!" sang Kana as she spun around, before remembering the most important thing about today. "Hmm… but Mama and Papa are coming today… and I haven't seen them in such a long time… I should do something special! Gather some fruit, maybe? Fish for fish?"
Kana thought about what she should do for the better part of a few moments before she reached her decision, snapping her fingers as an idea popped into her head. "I know! Mama and Papa should have both!" Kana exclaimed, her face beaming. "Well, I'd better get started!"
As Kana made her way towards the village square, something moved towards her. Actually, it looked like a bunch of somethings that looked like people, except that they were semivisible, and it was more than just this that made Kana feel nervous.
"You guys look weird… get away from me!" yelled Kana as she tried to dart back towards her house, only to be boxed in."Wh-who are you guys?! You-you'd better not be her to cause trouble! My Mama and Papa are almost here!" warned Kana, trying her best to sound intimidating. However, it seemed that Kana's warning did little to deter the strangers as they drew their weapons.
These guys look weird… but, I can't just run away! They look ready to do evil things, I can tell! thought Kana as she drew her dagger and attempted to attack one of the strangers, only for them to swiftly dodge her awkward strikes, and send her flying with a backhand.
As one, each of the attackers let out a dark chuckle before speaking at the same time. "You have spirit, hatchling. Perhaps, once I've crushed it to powder, I'll be able to forge you into a far greater servant than I'd ever hoped to make out of my-"
Before what the battered Kana could only assume were soldiers possessed by a demonic entity, one of them was struck down by a swing of a golden sword that Kana immediately recognized as her father's sword, Yato, while another was hit from behind by a pink hilted dagger, causing the others to turn around.
Just like when the sun reappeared after a terrible thunderstorm, Kana's spirits immediately soared at the sight of her father, Prince Corrin, a strapping young man who looked almost identical to Kana, apart from the different hairstyle and the fact that he had a blue cape with his silver and black armor instead of a bandana, and her mother, Felicia, who had pink hair and wore the usual attire you'd see on a maid.
Together, Corrin and Felicia struck down two more soldiers and forced their way through the opening to shield their daughter.
"Kana! Are you all right?" asked Felicia.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Mama," said Kana.
Corrin, meanwhile, sighed. "I'm so sorry. You've been safe here for so long, your mother and I never dreamed anyone would come after you here…just run and hide for now, your Mama and Papa got this," said Corrin before he turned his attention to the attackers. "YOU! YOU DARE THREATEN MY CHILD?! I'LL PAINT THIS FIELD WITH YOUR BLOOD!" roared Corrin as he and Felicia fought the invaders, who Corrin immediately recognized as Vallite Soldiers in league with King Anankos.
As the fight raged on, both Felicia and Corrin became battered and bloody while Kana watched one, feeling helpless, afraid, and angry… so angry that she just wanted to let out an almighty roar and tear these monsters limb from limb for hurting her Mama and Papa…
As a blow from another soldier sent him reeling backwards, Corrin saw that Kana was still watching the fight between her parents and the invaders. "Kana, I told you to run!" yelled Corrin as his Yato struck down another invader.
And yet, Kana couldn't seem to make herself move as what had started as a faint roaring in her head began to increase in volume at an ever-increasing pace, causing the young girl to have trouble hearing herself think straight.
Meanwhile, both Corrin and Felicia were both getting down to their last legs against the formidable onslaught of enemies.
These guys are tough… thought Corrin as he fell to one knee alongside Felicia. But… I have to keep fighting… have to keep them away from…
"NO! YOU BUNCH OF BULLIES! LEAVE MY MAMA AND PAPA ALONE!"
"Huh?!" said Felicia and Corrin as the two of them saw Kana running at the invaders, dagger drawn and her eyes alive with murderous intent.
"Kana, how many times do we have to tell you to run?" scolded Corrin, only to receive a look from Kana that clearly showed exactly how enraged she was.
"No! I'm not going to leave you or Mama, Papa!" said Kana, her voice starting to turn deep and gravelly. "Not when I've waited so long to see you again! No one's going to take you from me! I'm staying right-rrrgg! Right here by-RRRG! By your-RAWRG!"
As Kana spoke, purpleish energy began to encompass her body, glowing brighter until it reach fever pitch and shot up into the air, leaving only the silhouette of Kana, whose eyes and mouth were glowing pure white, visible. Until, finally, with a massive shockwave, where once stood a small human girl now stood a towering white and sapphire blue bipedal dragon with a slender build, stunning both of Kana's parents.
"Kana, you're…" said Corrin, at a complete loss for words at the towering lizard before them.
"She's transformed into a dragon! That shouldn't be possible, should it?" asked Felicia.
Corrin shook his head. "No… she must've inherited it from me," he said, a worried look on his face as he recalled the first time he lost control and triggered his transformation.
The dragon formerly known as Kana, however, paid no attention to her parents conversation as she let out a bellowing roar that could be heard for miles around before she breathed what looked like bluish-white fire at some of the seemingly fearless invaders, except instead of burning them to cinders, they were frozen solid, only to be shattered like glass with a single swipe of her claws.
"And it looks like she's inherited your Ice Tribe abilities… explains why the transformation looks different. But, for her dragon transformation to awaken, here and now… this must be her first time transforming!" said Corrin as his daughter let out another bellowing screech as she began to stomp towards the town, where it seemed enemy reinforcements were arriving. "She's out of control! She could go on a mindless rampage, and if she gives in to the dragon…" continued Corrin, desperately think up a plan. Finally, he turned to his wife. "Felicia, go and get the others. Tell Azura to bring another Dragonstone. We need to contain this situation, fast!"
Felicia nodded and headed back through the portal leading to their world. While Felicia rallied the others, Corrin worked to make sure that everyone evacuated the village safely. Finally, when Felicia returned with the other members of Corrin's small ragtag army of Hoshidans and Nohrians, the true battle began...
Several Hours Later…
Corrin sat in a chair next to the bed where his unconscious daughter lay. It had been one Hell of a struggle routing out the invaders and making sure that Kana didn't kill anyone on accident, and it sure as Hell didn't help when those two idiot thugs showed up hoping to tame Kana into becoming their pet. With Saizo's help, they should unthaw fairly quickly, though he had heard rumors that an Ice Dragon's ice only melted with dragon fire. And then once the enemy was routed, there was the job of getting Kana back into her human form so Azura could tune the Dragonstone to her. Corrin had honestly been worried that Kana would try to kill Azura like he did, but, perhaps due to still being a child, Kana was surprisingly docile towards Azura, although she was unconscious when she reverted back. Like himself, strangely enough, Kana's armor was still intact following her first transformation.
Perhaps there's some sort of secret enchantment on the armor… like a pair of magic pants, thought Corrin, only to be pulled out of his thoughts by the sounds of his daughter starting to wake up.
"Ugh… what happened?" asked Kana groggily.
"Hey, you okay, Kana?" asked Corrin.
"Papa! I dreamed that I turned into a dragon!" exclaimed Kana as she hugged her father.
"Well… that's because you did," said Corrin, a solemn look on his face.
Picking up on her father's expression, Kana's expression turned into a sad one."There was this roaring going on inside my head. It got so loud that I couldn't hear myself think. I'm sorry I upset you, Papa. I didn't mean to turn into a dragon," said Kana.
"Upset me? No, far from it. You've made me the happiest father in the world. You see…" said Corrin as he fished around for something before turning into a human-sized white and dark blue water dragon, causing Kana's eyes to widen and her jaw to drop in amazement. "I turn into a dragon too," said Corrin, his voice turning echoey before he reverted back into his human form. "I keep my power in check by using special stones called Dragonstones. You must do so as well," explained Corrin as he handed Kana a large, shimmering blue stone. "Well, I gotta get back to my world. Love you, Kana."
As Corrin stood up to leave, Kana grabbed his hand. "I want to go with you, Papa," she said.
Corrin heaved a sigh. "Kana, we've had this discussion. My world is too dangerous, and there are a lot of people counting on me-"
"Well, I'm counting on you too! I'm counting on you and Mama to visit me so I know you're okay! What if you and Mama die, and I get big, and I never see you again?" said Kana.
Corrin looked into his daughter's eyes and realized this was a legitimate concern of hers. "Well, if it's agony for you to stay here…" said Corrin, thinking it over very carefully. "Do you think you're old enough?"
Kana thought it over for a moment. "Well, I'm still just a little kid… but I'm old enough to be a dragon! I'm good to go!"
"All right, then pack up, we're heading back to my world!" said Corrin, beaming as he spoke.
"Yay! Rawr rawr rawr rawr! That means 'I love you' in dragon."
And cut! Admittedly, I may have goofed on some of the lines, but I think I did a somewhat decent job. Anyways, stay tuned for the beginning of Kana's dragon adventures, and be sure to vote on my poll, as well as fav, follow, and review!
