Disclaimer: I do not own Codename: Kids Next Door and I never will.
I thought of this when I was in the hairdresser a few days ago. Just a note, Nigel has already left for the Galactic KND, leaving Abby in charge.
Cut
Kuki power-walked as fast as she could without attracting attention. Her sight was set on the large tree-house that stood taller than any building in town. She passed many people, but luckily she didn't know any of them. She just wanted to run up to her room and fix everything up. There was hope for it, slim as it may be.
A raindrop fell on Kuki's head, which made her break into a sprint. She arrived at the tree-house double the time she normally would have. She entered the living room and started to walk on all fours. She didn't want to be seen by three of her teammates, who were currently playing a videogame. A creak sounded from underneath her and she gasped silently. Only one of the three heard, her head moving to face her left.
"What are ya doin', girl? Numbuh 5 gets worried when one of her friends comes in sopping wet with a hood over her face."
Abby was quickly by Kuki's side and pulled her up by the arm. Kuki held the sides of her green hood down, worried of what her friend might see. Abby, however, was stronger, managing to lift the hood with a few tugs. Kuki felt a pang in her stomach and closed her eyes.
"Why didn't you tell just tell me you'd had a hair cut?" Kuki was surprised Abby wasn't laughing. Her eyes were already brimmed with tears, and those words called them all out.
"Numbuh 5! It's horrible! My mother told me I was going to have a trim at the hairdressers and then I get half of it chopped off!" she cried. Warm arms embraced her and her chin was resting on white and blue fabric.
"It's okay, Numbuh 3. It looks good on you, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise," Abby reassured.
Kuki beamed and let go, her now shoulder length hair swaying slightly. "Really?"
Abby nodded. "Really. If you want another opinion, just ask the two game nerds over there. Hey, Numbuh 2, Numbuh 4! Get over here a second! That's an order!"
Kuki watched as the two left over operatives grumbled and paused their game. They hesitantly trudged over to where the two girls stood. Wally had his arms folded across his chest and his fringe covering his eyes. Hoagie was fiddling with his goggles, cleaning them with a pale blue handkerchief. Both of them had annoyed looks on their faces.
"What is it, Numbuh 5?" Hoagie questioned.
"What do you think of Numbuh 3's new hairdo?" Abby enquired calmly.
Wally scrunched up his face and his eyes appeared from behind his fringe. "You made us pause in the middle of our game for that?"
"She's worried about it."
The boys didn't argue any further and inspected Kuki with different expressions. Hoagie didn't look like he really cared, but Wally was gazing so intently that he frightened her a little bit. After a few seconds, Hoagie nodded approvingly and made a run for the couch. Wally had also stopped looking, but his face was very different from Hoagie's.
"You know, you looked better with longer hair..." He trailed off and Kuki felt both angry and gloomy.
"Excuse me," she started, but she was cut off.
"But you still look okay." Wally shrugged, but his face was red. He returned to the couch where Hoagie was waiting for him.
Abby was smirking, but Kuki had no idea why. If there was one thing she knew for sure, it was that she wouldn't care about her new hairstyle anymore.
Trust me, I don't want to see Kuki chop off her lovely black hair, but I wanted to experiment. Sorry about how much of a failure this is. -_- Review!
