Rhydian gave me the look. I knew nothing else mattered but this. This was his signal and I had to instantly respond.

I gave him a quick nod and tensed my muscled ready to…

BAM! Rhydian shot forward and disappeared into the woods; me just half a second behind.

If he won, again, I would have to admit defeat and sacrifice my bacon. The cold breeze blew my dark hair askew, as I sprinted to his side with impossible speed.

I could smell the bacon from here, the desire drove me wild. I looked to my left at Rhydian, his expression matched mine perfectly; his teeth bared slightly.

Soundlessly, I jumped up and grabbed hold of a branch above my head. I scrambled up the rough bark and leaped above Rhydian's head, to the next tree and so on. I ran slightly ahead in the trees.

Eventually he noticed my absence and hesitated before skidding to a halt. "Mads?" His face fell, as a serious expression replaced his carefree one, his brow knitting.

I held back a snigger as I landed back on my feet a metre in front of him and continued to sprint. "That bacon is mine! Ya hear?" I yelled back.

"Cheat!" He shouted, and raced after me.
