A/N: hey people!
Another one! This time featuring my favorite state New York! Expect more of her.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
He watches her from afar.
Not in a perverted way but in a curious way.
Through all his time on earth he only has two kids; the other parent is the same one for both of them.
They had only met face to face one time and that was when she was, or anyway looked, like a little child, along with her fraternal twin brother.
His daughter and son.
The meeting lasted only for a few minutes with Netherlands merely looking them over like he would a horse he was looking to buy. It ended with him giving them each a toy and leaving.
He regrets that now.
Now they are older and whatever they chose Alfred would support them and help them.
If they wanted to see him nothing was stopping them.
Only that they didn't want to.
Anthony was clearly his son; he took after him in every physical characteristic. Only he smiled more and acted more like…well…his other father America. He was called New Jersey now.
Emily was completely like America. Almost always smiling and optimistic. She was the only one of Americas children that occasionally went to the meetings. And then she would always stand by America and if anyone made it seem like they were going to attack him she would always protect and fight alongside him.
It was obvious that she was Alfreds child. But it was also obvious that she was his.
He had named her after him; or rather he named her land. She hadn't been born before then. 'New Holland' he had called her.
New York was what she was called now. After England, the one who had taken her land away from him.
They had almost came close to talking once. It was one of those World Meetings where she had tagged along, she had gone to get something to drink or eat and he on an impulse had followed her.
For a full minute they stood there just staring at one another. A full minute.
And they had said nothing. Finally she looked away, took a sip of the coffee she had been holding, and walked away.
Did he regret not speaking to her? Did he regret not having some sort of presence in her life? Would he have done it all differently if he had the choice?
No clue.
He sighed inwardly as she walked past him once more chatting with her father about one thing or the other.
Their gazes met momentarily. For one second, but it felt like an eternity. So much to say, too little time to say it.
And too much pride to allow him to say it.
Their gazes broke once more like it did so many times in the past. Nothing changed. And most likely nothing will ever change.
Netherlands continued to walk forward with his head held high.
New York turned and smiled slightly to herself. She continued to walk forward with her own head held high.
That's it. I might do one with Russia, Japan, or Prussia. Or maybe all three. I just don't want them to be the same so that's going to kinda be hard.
This is Phoenix-Fire Power over and out.
