Jack looked up from the frying pan as Charlie entered the kitchen.

"Hey, Dad, are you expecting company today?"

"Nope," Jack answered easily. "Just you, me and the game. Why?"

Charlie shrugged, half his body in the refrigerator. "There's a really pretty blonde sitting in a car out front. She keeps looking at the house and talking to herself."

"Charlie, watch the eggs."

Charlie pulled her head out of the refrigerator. "What are you going to do?"

Jack started walking towards the door. "Just stay inside."

"Go easy on her, Dad. She looks really sad. And she's really hot," Charlie added with a grin.

Jack rolled his eyes and stalked out of the house. He stopped in the middle of the driveway when he caught sight of the car. She was the last person he expected to see.

Jack quickly jogged across the road and leaned down to tap a knuckle against the window.

The woman jumped and quickly wound down the window with a guilty expression.

"What are you doing here, Ms Carter?"

Sam bit her lip. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you. I was just…"

"Stalking me and my son or scoping the place?" Jack asked caustically.

Sam pulled back. "No, I-"

"What?"

Sam sighed and let her head fall back against the headrest.

"You're going to think I'm crazy," she warned.

"Too late, Lady."

Sam couldn't help the little smile that twitched her lips. Across all the dimensions some things never changed. Slowly, Sam released her seatbelt and stepped out of the car.

"Everything we told you was the truth. Daniel, Cam and I are from an alternate timeline. In my timeline Jack O'Neill was a General, he loved the power but tolerated the responsibilities. He was fair and smart, even though he pretended otherwise. He didn't suffer fools and didn't care who knew it. In my timeline, Jack O'Neill was devastated after his son found his handgun and accidently shot himself."

Jack's mouth tightened. "Lady, I-"

"He blamed himself, his marriage was breaking down and then he was recalled for a very dangerous mission. One he thought he wouldn't return from. When he got back Sara had moved out and the divorce papers were waiting for him."

"Why are you doing this?"

Sam finally looked up at Jack, her eyes filled with crystal tears.

"In my timeline Jack O'Neill was my husband. In my timeline he was shot in front of me. I just wanted to say goodbye, I guess."

Jack stared stonily at her. "Lady, you need help. Don't ever come here again."

With that, Jack turned on his heel and walked away.
