Naïve

Hold on to this kite,

just don't let me down…

"Here," she smiled brightly and handed me a pencil. I grunted a thank you, ad returned to taking notes. I had no idea why I had asked her. Instinct, I suppose, my pencil snapped, and I asked the closest person to borrow one. But….why her….? There were less…annoying people on either side of me, but as soon as my pencil broke, my hand instantly reached for her shoulder. "Kiryu!" I stared at the teacher, "yes Yagari-sensei?" "How about you pay attention, huh?" "Mhmm," I replied. He turned back to the board and I dutifully took notes until the bell rang.

I stared at the blue pencil sitting opposite me on the bed. I had forgotten to give it back to her. Now it sat there mocking me, I could hear it laughing at me; 'I'm her pencil! You wanted me the second your pencil broke…. I smell a little like her hand lotion…..' "Peaches..." I sighed, "She smells like rain and god damned peaches.' You don't want second-hand smell, though, you want her,' "shut up!" I growled at the pencil

I know, she knows

"Yes?" I held out the pencil the instant the door opened "here, I forgot to give this back to you," she blinked in surprise, "oh, okay" she took it from my open palm. "Thank you," she smiled. "Hey disciplinary committee!" I gritted my teeth and spun around to face the vampire, "What?" "Did my girl do something wrong?" "…no…," "then what the HE-" "zero was just returning my pencil that he borrowed in English class,"

It's such an ugly world, something so beautiful

"Yeah? Cool," he brushed past me "it's past couple curfew," I frowned, "so?" "..Jack…Zero's right..." "Tch, whatever, " he pulled her into a rough kiss, it was disgusting. " night, babe," he grinned at me as he brushed past again. "Thanks for the pencil," I mumbled as I sped off.

"Idiot!" I threw another picture frame; it shattered with a sickening sound. I growled and ran to smash the big pieces. I stopped when I saw the picture that was in the now shattered frame. Yuuki smiled sweetly, her arms wrapped around my right one. Despite everything that had happened between us, I hadn't been able to get rid of it. "I'm still the same as I was then," I whispered, gently picking up the picture, "I haven't grown at all, I'm still as naïve…"

I die every time you're on his side…

~six months later~

"Zero!" I looked at the smiling girl waving to me. "..Hey..," she smiled again, she'd broken up with her boyfriend, and seemed happier for it, but nothing had changed between us. "How are you?" "Okay, you?" "Good! I've got something to give to you," I blinked in surprise, "what….?" She rummaged through her bag for a moment before producing a keychain. It was silver, but in the sun produced a rainbow. She hooked it to the chain of my Bloody Rose gun, and gave me a peck on the cheek. "just don't let me down, " as she got lost in the crowds, I lightly ran my fingers over the tiny kite.
