A/N: I just started watching the show and am hooked. Be kind.
My boss is exceptionally crass to me today. More so than usual. I nearly cried but then I remembered who was making the comments and then pictured his head being popped like a hot air balloon. Because that is what he is.
My birthday is coming up and I dread it. Not because of the age- that doesn't bother me. No, it's the office party my office will invariably throw just for the sake of boasting morale.
The weekend is coming upon us and I hear other people making plans that sound like fun. I wish I could join them but Roy wants me to himself and I like seeing him.
The corporate woman was here again so the rumors about downsizing flared up again. Since I take the notes for the meetings everyone from Dwight on down the line have been trying to pump me for information.
I only tell my information to Jim.
"So, she said at the moment the downsizing for our division is off the table but she couldn't guarantee that for any length of time."
Jim is leaning on my counter looking down at me, leaned in even closer. "Does Dwight know?"
I shake my head. "Just us."
He grins. "Ok." He stands and walks back to his desk right next to Dwight and starts talking to him.
Jim. Quirky, sweet, handsome Jim. I wonder if he knows he is the only reason I smile at work. We constantly keep thinking of new ways to torment Dwight to pass the day along. His ideas are the best. One day I will go out with him for drinks- as friends. But Roy doesn't think it's a good idea. I don't think he believes our relationship is a platonic one. And doesn't know what that means.
"Babe."
Roy drags me out of my thoughts for the lunch break. I smile. "Hey. Let's go eat."
I feel Jim's eyes on me even as Roy takes my arm to lead me to the break room. I look over my shoulder and give him a small smile. He will join us soon.
