He'd known, he'd always known. It's hard not to be aware when someone has a crush on you. But somehow, somewhere along the way, his own feelings had changed. The question was, did he still have a chance to seize the love he'd spurned?

Harry stood outside the door of the flat Ginny and Colin shared, trying to work up his nerve. What if-- No, he wouldn't think that way. Steeling himself, he knocked on the door.

As soon as it opened, he said in a rush, "I like you. I was a total blind idiot not to see that. Please, can I have a chance to prove I've changed? I know that you don't like me all that much anymore--"

"Potter, I never liked you," came Draco Malfoy's icy voice. "And if that speech is for my girlfriend, it will give me great pleasure to grind your bones into paste."

Harry blushed to the roots of his hair. "Malfoy! What are you doing here?"

"Receiving declarations of love from hopeless prats. It's something of a hobby of mine." Draco sneered at the hapless Boy Who Lived. "Now I ask you, what the hell are you doing sniffing around here?"

Harry wanted to make a cutting remark, but he was so rattled that nothing came to mind. "Um, where are Ginny and Colin?"

"Creevey's in his darkroom, doing heaven only knows what, and Ginny's no concern of yours." The door swung towards Harry's face, but he stuck his foot in the way just as a voice called out, "Who's that at the door, Draco?"

"Nobody, just a random charity case." Draco attempted to shove Harry back into the hallway and slam the door, but Harry was too quick.

"Look, I came over to have my say and I will, and no stinking ferret faced Malfoy's going to stop me." Harry glared at Draco and then studiously ignored him. "Look, all I wanted to say is that, well, I like you, and I want to know if you'd be willing to take a chance on being with me."

There were several minutes of silence. "Why should I? You know I've got--"

"Because I'm in love with you. Because we belong together." Harry pushed his glasses up and took a step forward. With Gryffindor courage, he took up the hands that he'd longed to caress and dropped a brief kiss on each of them. "Because you don't love him. Give me a chance to prove that you could still love me."

Draco tensed. "Do you want me to throw the arrogant prat out?"

"No... Let him stay." Draco muttered an expletive and threw himself down on the sofa as warm brown eyes turned to look Harry over. "Why should I believe you?"

Deciding that this was the moment of all-or-nothing, Harry reached out and started kissing passionately the lips that had haunted his dreams.

"GINNY!" He could hear Malfoy shouting but Harry ignored it completely as he lost himself in the bliss of finally indulging in a duel of lips and teeth and tongues that had no losers. He felt hands slowly creeping up around him and then they were buried in his hair, pushing his glasses up and the kiss went on, furious and passionate and intense.

Finally it ended and Harry was left to stand, breathless, waiting to hear his fate.

Then he heard them, the most beautiful words in the English language. "Of course I love you, Harry. I always have."

A smile broke like a sunrise over Harry's face as he looked at the teary face of his beloved and said, "I love you, too, Colin."

Ginny came out of the kitchen and looked at Draco quizzically as Harry and Colin embraced. "What's going on?"

"Gay Gryffindors in love. You're going to have to work awfully hard at making it up to me, having had to witness this."
