This is a companion piece to my story Exchange which was posted a while ago. Exchange was Harry's POV, this is Lucas' POV. Enjoy.
Just an hour after getting to sleep, Lucas was rudely awoken as the door to his cell crashed open. Two burly men stood either side of the door, one shouting at him to get up and come with them. Already wearing the only outfit he possessed, black track pants and sweatshirt, he was barely able to pull on a pair of trainers before he found himself dragged through corridors and out into the chilly night air.
Sleep induced disorientation increased his concern when he found himself outside. He was bundled into a van which soon deposited both Lucas and his guards at the steps of a plane. On board the plane Lucas eventually fell into a troubled sleep, his dreams intermittently disturbed by wind turbulence and the rumble of the engines. He had asked where he was being taken, but received no answer except to be handcuffed to the arm of his seat. Several hours later he was once again rudely awoken and realised that the plane had landed goodness knows where.
On the ground Lucas was startled to be greeted by Arkady Kachimov. Kachimov had been surprisingly absent from Lucas' interrogation sessions for a few months, something he had been quite curious about.
"Long time, no see," Lucas said, hoping that Kachimov would betray something of his intentions, but he was hoping in vain.
"Hello Lucas. We have a little further to travel. Please," Kachimov held out his hand towards a waiting car, indicating that Lucas should join him inside. That was where the conversation ended. As the car began to move, a hood was pulled down over Lucas' head. He tried to focus on the sounds that penetrated the car, but couldn't recognise anything.
A rough surface signified a definite change in their location, and when the car came to a halt and the engine was switched off, he was fairly sure they had reached their destination.
No one spoke to him, he was simply pushed off the back seat and out the door, where his arms were gripped tightly by his two guards. The hood was yanked from his head, leaving him to squint through the darkness and into the light emanating from the headlights of another car. He could just see the outline of several shadowy figures, one of whom gestured to his companion.
The grip around Lucas' arms was removed and he was pushed forwards. It suddenly hit Lucas that he was being released. Either that or he was walking into a whole lot more trouble. His knees weak, he stumbled slightly as he walked towards the light and as he got closer, he recognised the man who stood waiting expectantly.
Lucas smiled, "Hello Harry."
Harry Pearce smiled back and guided him towards the car, "Welcome home Lucas."
I know it's short, but it's meant to be. Please review and let me know what you think.
