Sam woke with a start. She sat up straight in bed, her eyes darting around the dark, unfamiliar room.

"Jack, did you hear that?"

Sam reached out to nudge Jack awake. For a person who slept so lightly off world, he was difficult to wake at home.

"Jack?"

Sam's hand hit the cool blankets. There was no one there.

With a forlorn expression that she would never let anyone else see, Sam pulled the extra pillow towards and hugged it tightly. She buried her face in the pillow and breathed deeply.

It was of no use. Jack had never slept in this bed. Not in this world. His scent couldn't be here. If she concentrated she could remember it. A woody, spicy smell that just seemed to fit the man. But, it was getting harder to remember it.

All those details, the things she took for granted, were slipping away from her.

It'd only been a few months. A few months ago she watched Jack collapse to the ground and insist they go, they leave him behind. And he had turned those wonderfully expressive eyes to her and silently pleaded that she follow orders this one last time.

She didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.

And after, he wanted her to survive, so she did. She pushed all that emotion to the side and focused on saving Daniel and Cam.

But now, now she could mourn. She was alone. Truly alone in a way she hadn't been before.

No Jack- her Jack was gone. This world's Jack was still very happily married.

No Mark and his kids- they thought she was dead.

No Dad- they didn't have a cure for cancer.

No Janet.

No Teal'c.

No Vala.

No Cam.

No Daniel.

She was alone. Friendless in an unfriendly world.

It just made it worse.

Tears welled up in her eyes. She began to sob into the pillow.

"Oh, Jack."
