"You actually believe in that stuff?" She grinned at me.
"Not believe; I just read about it. Say, don't you read your horoscope everyday?" I wanted to die again. Why? She found out my most embarrassing secret.
I believed in astrology.
Karin was giggling beside me. "Yeah, It's a good something to laugh at when you're feeling down. I mean, who actually thinks that the zodiac can influence one's lovelife?"
...I do.
Now's wasn't a good time to sweet-talk a girl like Karin. She's pretty and I wanted to... but it's hard when she's laughing her ass off.
And I'm not joking. I've made her suffocate in the past.
"Toushirou... please don't tell me you believe in that junk. You're a great guy. Don't let this ruin life for you."
"Hey! It does not ruin life for me." "Are you implying something?"
"No."
She smirked.
"You like 'that stuff', don't you? Is it your drug? Better yet, Is there a girl you had in mind?"
"Stop asking me such foolish questions!" Blood started to climb onto my cheeks.
"So you do like a girl! Is it Rukia? Momo? It's got to be her—"
She stared at my jacket pocket. "Toushirou, what the heck is that?"
"My jacket, of course."
"I'm talking about that grey thing sticking out of your pocket."
"What grey thing?" I replied. She began to walk closer to me as if she wanted to jump me.
Her hand reached out to touch me. She grabbed my arm while searching my pockets.
"If you are trying to mug me, don't." Before I knew it, she let go of me.
"Let's see..." She examined what was a piece of paper in her hands.
"Coffee break, Sudoku, Daily Crossword...Ah here it is! Horoscopes."
My eyes grew. Did she just take my...
"NEWSPAPER!"
"Yes, Hitsugaya-taichou, it is indeed a NEWSPAPER! More newspaper than NEWSPAPER!, but you were pretty right."
"Don't touch it!"
Her eyes narrowed. "Well, you should of told me that earlier! I'm already touching it."
"Just don't touch it like you touched me."
Her face was sanguine. I've got to admit it was cute.
"Anyways, I think I just caught you holding the evidence I needed."
"Evidence?"
"Yeah, evidence that proves that you believe in horoscopes."
"That 'evidence' you speak of could mean anything!"
She wasn't listening.
"You're a sagittarius, huh? Your birthday is December 20."
"Why do you ask?"
"That's too bad, Toushirou. I was going to consider dating you, but since you're a sagittarius, I have to cross you off."
"And you cross me off your list of potential guys why?"
"Ha! You are interested in me!"
"I never said that! I was asking why I wouldn't be a guy you would date."
"Fine. I'll tell you. You're a sagittarius, I'm a taurus."
"That's shallow of you."
"I'm not finished. A sagittarius is a fire type, while a taurus is an earth type. They are incompatible."
Then it came to me.
"Hey, what happened to the girl who said she didn't believe in astrology?"
She smiled. "She's right here, about to kiss you."
I leaned in after her.
"Is she a liar too?" My smile rivaled hers.
"Yes. Yes she is."
And the gap between us closed.
...
A Few Words From 'Hitsugaya':
I used to hate conversations because they get very tedious. But if the girl you love is in front of you, let the conversation commence.
Why? It always ends with a kiss.
...and sometimes a slap in the face if you get too lucky.
