"You're not my Father." That's what she had yelled down the phone at him. But truth be told, her Father would never pull something like this.
What was Noah thinking? Why would he do that? At least now she knew why she had never had a date. She was just his brother's best friend. Why would he even care who she dated or if she dated?
All of this time she thought the guys just saw her as one of the boys. But instead, Noah had been warning them off. Way to help her self esteem. She would be thirty and still not know what to do on a date at this rate. It would be flattering if she thought he had feelings for her, but that wasn't possible. Was it?
She really wanted to throw something at him. Something really big and heavy. Who did he think he was, trying to control her life?
Maybe he was just being over protective. He had said she was like a little sister to him when they were outside the Principal's office. Which was like having a bucket of ice cold water thrown over her. In fairness , he didn't know she had a crush on him.
These weren't the actions of someone who saw her as a little sister though. It was almost as though he didn't want anyone but his brother near. Basically the one male who wasn't a blood relative, who there was no chance of him hitting on her. Did Noah like her? Like in a 'I want to kiss you' type of way?
No, that couldn't be right. Could it? Had he really been protecting Lee on the first day of school? Or was he protecting her or even more unlikely, was he jealous? She was so confused. Just when she thought she was getting over her crush on Noah, he started acting as though he had feelings for her. Non big brother type feelings.
Maybe she had this all wrong. She threw herself face down on her bed. She was never going to date until Noah went to college at this rate.
