His eyes opened. Where is he? Some alleyway? He stands up observing his decrepit and littered surroundings. The darkness within the alley is comforting but the light at the far end is unbearable from all they jumbotrons. He hears the noise of his surroundings but it's just a minor buzz at the moment. He shields his eyes and face with a hand blocking the ever so tormenting light. There is a sharp pain in his head, as if his own skull had become a blender and was shredding his mind.
"Peter?" Eddie questions as he stumbles, his hand reaching for the wall. He hears a helicopter soaring above the noise lessening as it trails off. Someone or some people were after him, he didn't even know. What he did know was that it was night and all the jumbotron screens were too damn bright.
He couldn't remember what happened, not for today, not yesterday. His mind had been warped, it was like someone took an eraser to his life and erased all recent events. The light becomes somewhat tolerable, a sign that he should move. His head still feels like hell, as if someone had emptied his head out like a garbage bin and threw a grenade in.
Eddie exited the alley and walked out into the busy street. These surroundings were more familiar, but less pleasant in comparison to the dark alley. The noise changed from a buzz to very apparent chaos. He was in Manhattan, he'd rather be in the alley than to be dealing with all this loud noise, it was driving him crazy. Busy streets, and sidewalks, it made him wish he was deaf right now.
Walking he found a television behind a glass playing the news.
"Over twelve lives taken away yesterday, all of them sharing the same symptoms. Pale white skin, scrunched up skin, lack of blood within the body, black sockets for eyes and more." The news anchor stated. "The cause? A monstrous violet colored beast, Venom." Eddie's whole head ached ten times more at the word Venom. He had remembered. He was that beast, Venom. Venom was his inheritance, the same inheritance Peter tried throwing away as he swore it was pure evil. At the time Eddie was enraged, how could he throw away their father's work, the work Eddie tried salvaging for so long? Luckily he had his own sample. Did he feel lucky now however?
'Twelve people are dead because of me. Twelve, and that's for yesterday only… What about today, or the days before yesterday… It's all my fault.' Eddie said realizing that his selfish act for revenge ruined many lives. He was comparable to a fisher man, only he yanked out lives instead of fish.
"What did I do?!" Yelled a middle-aged man was he was tackled to the ground and stomped on. Eddie's brow furrowed, he couldn't get involved he didn't want to risk himself turning into Venom again. Eddie could somewhat remember the past now as he walked forward after some time. He was stuck in a feeding process, the suit needed to take over so it could feed or else it'd feed off of him. It got to the point where he refused to give in and after holding it in for so long it overpowered him and stayed in control for a while.
"Ugh my fucking head…" Eddie whispered. He kept moving. Time passed and he heard multiple pops and sirens. He didn't want to get involved. Why? Was it for himself, to not lose control again? Or the fact he'd probably end up hurting more innocents again? He didn't know, nor did he really care.
He moved until he decided to take a short cut, he went through another alley. Alleyways were the perfect refuge for Eddie, a vacation from the crowded world in which he did not belong in. All those events before like the shooting and sirens he could have given into the sweetest temptation there was, losing control. It was a deadly addiction, to want to give into your worst impulses of anger and rage. He wanted to feel the perfect high of adrenaline consuming his every being, and being washed away down a wordpool of hatred. It was like a cigarette they're bad for you, but you can't stop smoking them.
But he mustn't give in, or else he will lose himself. Eddie had never turned into Venom for the right cause, instead he changed for himself most of the time to end petty fights, to fulfill the symbiotes hunger, or because he got enraged. Never had he changed for the sake of another individual.
He got over to the end of the alley and that's when he heard irregular breaths, extreme panting. She had white hair, Eddie's brow knit in confusion.
"They're after me! You've gotta help me." She panted out. The men after her rounded the corner after few seconds, Eddie heard the sounds of keychains rattling, a baseball bat being grazed against the floor, he saw one with brass knuckles, another with a pocket knife, and more men with either no weapons or similar weapons to the men he saw. She backed up against the side of the alley wall.
'This city's a toilet that's been clogged, filled with criminal scum. There's more corruption and sin in this city than sand on a beach. And I'm no saint either. I'm apart of the problem. Except I'm the one who's gonna live past today, the one who gets to see this toilet of a city flush by unclogging the scum. By killing them.' Eddie thought in an alarmed stance watching the men fill the alleyway like flies surrounding a corpse.
"Jenna did you really think you could just steal drugs from us and get away with it? Like you think this man can help you?" The man snapped his fingers and the men with brass knuckles and baseball bats all started beating on Eddie.
"No don't hurt him, he has nothing to do with this!" Jenna begged. "I'm sorry I'll pay you guys back!" Jenna promised. Eddie heard this, if they were gonna let her go it'd be pointless to change into Venom, he could take a beating. With his heart racing though it was hard to contain it. Eddie was a larvae dying to transform, only instead of transforming into something beautiful such as a butterfly he'd be transforming into something horrifyingly ugly, Venom. Something he'd lose himself in, so he'd rather take the beating if she were to be let go.
"Sure we'll let ya go, once we haul your body over a boat we'd let you go right into the water. Or you could pay us off by whoring yourself out for money on the streets, your choice." The man taunted he knew Jenna would never pick the second option he just wanted to toy with her . Eddie was on his hands and knees, his teeth were gritted in a rather animalistic state. He was getting pissed off. It made some of the attackers wonder why he wasn't on the ground laid out yet, it was a question they would wish they never found the answer to.
"Please, I'll never steal from you guys again." Jenna swore with no implication of lying.
"You're right you'll never steal from us again because you'll be several feet below in the ocean."
"Feeding time…" He said in a dark whisper. They all stopped beating on him confused. Eddie gave out a pant like laugh, he could feel it wanting to be let out, like a vicious lion trapped in a cage. He would be selling his soul away to Venom again, but this was a first, it was for someone else.
"What the fuck did you just say?" One of them questioned. Jenna's eyes were wide from the whole ordeal, but soon she wouldn't be the only one with their eyes widened.
"FeEdInG tImE!" Eddie said in a loud demonic roar. Thick violet tentacles slithered around Eddie, he was gone now. A bat slammed down on Venom's head but it dented. Venom grabbed one of them by the head with a single palm, tendrils erupted from his body some swirling around torsos, others around their wrists. Venom swung them hard against the walls or floor, the man he was holding was crushed by his palm like a grape, the blood dripped onto the floor. There was one behind him who emptied a whole clip of a pistol on him. He threw the lifeless body at another hard enough to cause an earthquake.
"hUnGrY…." He stated, a barrage of tendrils, a whole glob of them shot itself onto the man with the pistol. He wasn't eating his body, he was devouring his life force. The man's face and skin scrunched up while turning pale. The tendrils released the body and it tumbled down. The men on the ground got up but they were ripped apart to shreds by Venom's claws. He punched another sending him flying face first through the glass window of a car, his head went right through it and his body went limp outside the car. He turned to the man in charge who was too shocked to move, too petrified.
"P-P-Please." He begged as Venom got closer. He was picked off the ground around his neck by a beastly hand, a thin tendril strand from Venom's forearm attached to the man's face, the goo went inside his mouth and nose. The victim's legs kicked violently in the air, and they eventually stopped moving. Venom threw his body at a dumpster enjoying the metallic slam sound it made.
Venom released a monstrous growl staring off into moon, a primal howl. He faced Jenna who now stood at the middle of the alleyway instead of against the wall not realizing the danger she was in.
"Thank you so much." She said with great vigor. She believed he was some hero of the sorts, far from the truth like a fortune teller. Eddie was somewhat conscience for this, as if his choice to do good with the suit it allowed him to gain somewhat control. He had to fight with everything in him to not feed off of her though. He watched as she left the alley. This was a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time, a warm a fuzzy one in comparison to the usual twisted satisfaction he usually felt when plundering one's life. He morphed back to him old self. He had never changed back to his old self so quick before. He was stuck in a crouched stance thinking of what just happened. For once he had somewhat control.
"Of all the times I've changed into a monster – have I finally changed into a good person?" Eddie asked, he didn't quite know. He would find out, eventually. He picked himself off the ground, and walked out into a crowded street, but with all the people here he somehow managed to feel lonely. There was no where for him to go, no one for him to come back to, no plans for the future, nothing. What was there for him was more scum, more prey, but how long would it be until he became the prey?
