Ok, so this is my first ever fanfic - and it's focusing on Dissidia Final Fantasy NT! It is semi-canon, but I'm putting my own twist to it. It's a work in progress so I honestly don't know how many chapters there will be. So let's just see how this goes. The story will be told from the perspective of Claire "Lightning" Farron from Final Fantasy XIII. Yes, I have played all 3 games in The Lightning Saga (Haven't actually finished any of them yet lol) so I will try to make things as accurate as possible with regards to Light's past adventures. There will be smut later on - I will give a warning when I get there. Lastly, I own none of the characters in the Final Fantasy universe - all rights reserved go to Square Enix.
In the beginning... Darkness ruled across the face of the deep. And God said... "Let there be Light." And there was Light. And God saw the Light and that it was good. He divided the Light from the Darkness - He called the light Day and the darkness Night.
There I was, in the heat of combat under the starry sky in Luxerion. Said to be The Shining City, there was nothing holy about it at all - especially with this Shadow Hunter on the loose. Not to mention that there was some stupid prophecy about "The Savior falling at the hands of The Shadow Hunter" - yeah, like that was going to spook me. As I battle in the streets against a small pack of Gremlins, I take in the fact that another one of those dummies with rose-colored hair (exactly like mine, and in the same style as well) could come out and throw me off my game. I try not to focus on that as I cast Fire on a Gremlin and then use Blitz to take at least 3 of them down, my Crimson Blitz blade letting off a deathly glow in the moonlight. The other 2 use Blizzard and Aero, but I block them both with my Night Lotus shield before counterattacking with Blitz again. "What's done is done." I say, watching as the last of the Gremlins fade away from sight.
Once that's over, I sheath my sword and hurry off. I remember that Hope was telling me to follow those Heretics closely to see what they were up to. Coming into the Town Square, near the South Station, I hide in the shadows and watch them closely. Why in the world would they be prophesizing my downfall, of all people? I shake my head as I faintly hear them chanting something in the language of Etro - the Goddess of Death. Suddenly, they begin to move out of the Square so I decide to follow close behind. I follow them until I hide behind a building, simply because they thought someone was following them. Peering out from the corner, I watch them make their way to some sort of telephone booth in front of the gates to the graveyard just ahead of them.
Once the gate opens and the Heretics enter the graveyard, I make my move and run to the booth. "Light, hold on. I don't think it's that easy to get in. You can't just call and say you want in." Hope says to me. I nod and back away for a minute. "A code, maybe?" I ask, trying to see if that's what the Heretics used to gain entry. "It has to be. Maybe we should ask around and see what the locals say." He suggests - and from the way he sounded, he probably shrugged as he said it. I take a breath and nod, beginning to walk back into town. "Alright, let's see what they say." I reply, knowing that I'm one step closer to figuring out what the Heretics' master plan was. As I got back into town, I began to ask some of the locals - however, that didn't seem to work as most of them were scared senseless after bearing witness to the recent deaths of young girls that looked exactly like me.
I try again and again and again, but it's to no avail regardless of what I say or do. I lean against a wall, a hand running through my hair as I let out a frustrated sigh. "How does no one know how to tell me about what to look for?" I then say, annoyed. Hope sighs at this. "You can't just expect people to give you what you need. Maybe they're too scared to tell because they think the Heretics will come after them. You have to take everyone's opinions into perspective, Light." He responds. I sigh and nod. "No, you're right. I guess we'll just have to keep our eyes and ears open for now." I answer, crossing my arms as I look around. Right now, those Heretics weren't the only thing on my mind. All my friends - Noel, Sazh, Vanille, Fang, and Snow - as well as my sister Serah were nowhere to be found. Well, I already knew about Snow but I didn't know about the others. By the fal'Cie, I'd give anything to be with my sister again. Wait, why would I be wishing upon them? The fal'Cie were false gods that tried to enslave humanity - and also branded myself, Serah, and our friends (with Noel as the only exception) as l'Cie. Beings who could use magic, but had to complete their Focus to gain eternal life or else face an eternity trapped in crystal if one failed to complete their Focus. "Oh, Serah..." I mutter to myself, now feeling a bit homesick - but ever since I began this insane adventure, especially after being locked in a crystal slumber upon Etro's throne for 500 years, when have I ever had a place to call home?
"What was that, Light?" Hope said, bringing me back to reality. I clear my throat and shake my head. "It's nothing, Hope." I simply respond. But just as I'm about to begin walking again, a column of rainbow light envelopes me. "Hope, what's going on? It's not 6am yet!" I exclaim, knowing that this was only supposed to happen when I have to return to the 13th Ark and deliver Eradia to Yggdrasil in order to extend the so-called "Doomsday Clock" on the world. "That's not me, Light! It's-!" Hope says, but gets cut off as I'm suddenly transported to a place that I don't know but do know at the same time.
