I'm back and with a new story just in time for Halloween (not that it was planned...)
Anyway, this is an idea I have been working on for nearly a year now and I must admit - this is the first time I've tried writing something like this.

Please bear with me and in the event of something really not working, leave me a suggestion?

Just the prologue for now as chapters 1 to 4 lie in mangled pieces after being recovered from my flash.

Warning: This fic will contain murder, torture and hints to both criminal activities and slight glimpses of a boy on boy relationship that won't be explored. Also very AU
In other words - it fully deserves its M rating and is definitely not for children or the squeamish.

Disclaimer: I don't owe Yu-Gi-Oh!

Silence, the beautiful moment of stillness, before all hell broke loose.

The glass flew out of the panes leaving jagged frames behind.

Tables and chairs upended and distorted.

Flames spreading, consuming everything in their path.

Bodies, broken and mangled strewn across the floor – none left alive.

Firefighters on the scene abandoning the building as the roof collapsed.

Police sighing and radioing in that the blonde mad man had struck again.

His heart stopped as he rounded the corner to find the restaurant in flaming pieces. The restaurant he was meant to meet his angel at five minutes ago. He walked towards the ambulances in a daze, wistfully hoping that for once in his life his angel had been running late.

He'd just looked up as the paramedics carried over one of the only whole bodies they'd been able to remove from the rubble. Karma, he decided, existed simply to spite him.

He felt his heart shatter as he watched the medics lowered a sheet over the once pale form of his love, catching sight of a burn that seemed to cover the one half of his face.

He turned away, simply to be faced with the still smoldering remains of the building; the sight reminding him closely of his past and his family's deaths. Yes, Karma truly hated him.

As he stood there watching the last of the flames being smothered, he put his hand into his pocket – starting at the feel of something cool.

Still half in a daze he pulled out the object and felt the need for vengeance rising. He knew who had done it, it was impossible to mistake the work of his former partner.

This time though, this time Mariku had gone too far. With one last glance at the vehicle his angel was in, he turned away while sliding an elegant silver ring onto his finger – the lone diamond glittering red.

Short, but with so much more to come.
Until then,
