Chapter 1: Human Mice

Young Jacob was staring through his bedroom wall, not knowing what to do next. Jacob was a pretty shy kid, very insecure with himself, and always being picked on by other kids at his school. Jacob is 10 years old, black hair, and green eyes with his glasses pushed back into his eyes. He could play with his new action figures that he got for his birthday a couple weeks ago or he could go on his computer. Then again, he remembered that he had Math homework he had to do. So he decided to do his homework.

He got off his bed and went to his desk to start his homework. He took his pencil out and started computing. His little sister, Amy, came into his room saying, "I'm bored, play with me." Jacob sighed, "Amy, knock before coming into my room next time, I can't I have homework to do." Amy is a 7 year old blonde girl with bright blue eyes. "I'm sorry, I forgot." Jacob sighed, "You always say that!" "Did you get done with your homework?" "Yes." Amy replied. "Alright after I get done doing my math homework, I'll play with you." Jake said in a disappointing voice because he was hoping that he could just relax and play with his action figures. "Promise?" Amy said in the most innocent voice. "Yes I promise." Jacob said in a sympathetic voice because he felt bad that he had to put his sister off.

As soon Jacob got done doing his homework, he had heard his mother come home from work. Jacob quickly got up and went to greet his mother as he always does when she comes home. Jacob ran to the living room almost tripping over his own two feet. As soon as his mother got out of the car and opened the door, "Mom, I'm glad your home," giving her the biggest hug ever. The hug that a mother couldn't forget. "Hey honey, did you get your homework done?" Yes," Jacob replied with a smile. "I got a 92 on my English test today." "Oh honey, I'm so proud of you." His mother had been raising both Jacob and Amy ever since their father died in a tragic car crash 2 years ago. She works two jobs so that she can raise her children and get by with what little they had.

"I'm going to make dinner real quick. Tell your sister to wash up for dinner." "Okay." Jacob said. Jacob and his mother have gotten really close over the past two years because Jennifer thought that she needed to be there for Jacob along of Amy so that they don't act out in life. As soon they got washed up and ate dinner, they went their separate ways. Amy went into her room and played while Jacob went into his room on his computer while Jennifer went into the living room, poured herself a glass of red wine, and sat down to read her current Stephen King book.

Jacob got off his computer a couple hours later, he looked at his alarm clock and realized that it was almost 10:30 at night. "Oh crap." He got off his computer and went towards his closet. He noticed a big black hole in the back of his closet. "What is that?" "This was never here before." He peeked through the hole where a skeleton came out of no where. "Hello, young lad," the skeleton said with the most scariest grin ever. Jacob jumped back almost tripping over his skateboard. "Who are you?" Jacob asked swallowing back some spit. "Oh, my apologies lad, let me introduce myself, my name is Jack Skellington," giving out a high pitch laugh. Jacob said in a hushed voice, "Quiet, your going to wake my family up." "Oh, pish posh, I can show you a different land, a land where nightmares come to life, a place where your fears are shown." "Let me take you to a place called Halloween Town." Jacob grabbed the skeleton hand as Jack reached out and grabbed his hand pulling him into the dark hole.
