It was the day. Or rather, fourteen years to the day. He stood at the memorial plaque and read the name over and over again. Uchiha, Obito. He gave out a deep sigh. Over and over in his head the same words rang. It's your fault Kakashi, you could've prevented it. You weren't strong enough. All of the sudden, he felt a presence. Kakashi's head shot up, and he looked around, and his eyes landed on a red haired young woman, standing directly next to him. He didn't quite recognize her at first. But when she spoke, everything shot back at him.
"It's been a while Kakashi, eh?" her voice was very feminine, and her head turned so that her eyes could meet his.
Kakashi let out a deep breath. "Rin."
Rin gave a weak smile. "I almost thought you forgot about me."
Kakashi shook his head. "No. Never. Everyday you and Obito haunt me." He mumbled for her ears only, though the cemetery was empty.
Rin set her hand on his shoulder. "It's not your fault." She comforted him, knowing his pain.
Kakashi let out a very deep sigh. "Of course it is." He objected.
Rin gave him a long, hard, stare. "No it's not Kakashi!" her voice was tense.
Kakashi's eyes widened slightly when Rin broke down in tears.
"We all know it's my fault Kakashi! I wasn't strong enough!" she wept uncontrollably. "I couldn't lift the rock and heal him! I wasn't strong enough..."
"Rin." Kakashi had never thought about it in her point of view, and when he did think about it then and there, he realized that she had more of a load to bear. Obito had loved her. And she couldn't save him when he needed her. "Rin it's okay."
"No it's not Kakashi! If I was stronger back then Obito would still be alive!" Rin wailed.
"Rin…." Kakashi pulled Rin close to him, protectively. "It's okay." He looked on at Obito's own personal grave, along with all the other Uchiha's. He saw Obito's goggles lying there, like they had for the last 13 and half years.
"I missed you." Rin confessed into his chest.
"I missed you too." Kakashi whispered back, stroking her hair. "Why did you leave?"
Rin was finally calmed down. "I had to train." She told him. "After Obito's death, I had to train, become stronger. Losing him as a friend and a comrade was one of the worst things that had ever happened to me."
Kakashi sighed. "Rin, promise me one thing…" he tilted her chin up.
Rin's eyes softened. "Yes?"
"Never leave my side." He pulled down his mask and kissed her.
