Chad watched Troy run across the gym, dribbling the ball. Then just when he was about to go over and ask to talk to him privately after practice, a ball slammed into the back of his head.

"Oh dude, I'm so sorry," It was that mosquito, Jimmy-Johnny-something or other. Rocket. "But dude, you shouldn't just stand there man, you could get hurt, man." A little late for that Chad thought. The boys were cleaning up after practice, he must have lost control of the ball. Newbie. Normally Chad was more forgiving, but most of the time, he wasn't about to say something that had the power to totally revamp his friendship with Troy.

Troy was running towards them, "Chad, man, you okay? That was a big noise; I could hear it from all the way across the gym."

"I'm fine, my hair cushioned the blow," Chad joked. "Okay," answered Troy, but he still looked uneasy. "You really should go to the infirm, just to make sure. It would suck if you got a concussion, and couldn't play in the upcoming game." "I'll be fine, you won't be benching me that easily."

"Still, take care of yourself, you're my best mate" Troy said with a grin, Chad's heart wrenching, what could he say to that? Thankfully, at that moment, Troy cell rang. "Hey Gab" the playmaker said when he open the phone, "sure". "Sorry, Gabriella wants to practice something for the musicale, catch you later, right?" Chad nodded, As Troy was running off, he turned around and yelled " Get that head looked at, man!"

Chad waved to show he had heard, then turned and walked in the opposite direction. Next time, he would say something, next time. Maybe if he kept saying that, he might actually do it someday, eventually.

I never read angst, yet I wrote it... that's a bad sign. But I just love this pairing, (dunno why) and I really wanted to give it a happy ending, but I did want to end it with that line. And please don't ask me how I got this (^__^) out of "Hair" Beats me. Please review
