"Ganta!" Shiro said enthusiastically, tugging on her best friend's sleeve. "Shiro want snack!"
"You just said you wanted to go on the ferris wheel, and if we stop for snacks, we'll have to wait a whole half hour for the next ride."
Shiro wiggled her hand away from Ganta's and folded her slender arms across her chest. "But Gantaaaaaaaaaa!" she wailed, pouting. "Shiro hungry! Friends don't let friends be hungry!"
Ganta sighed. "Ok, ok, snacks it is. Where do you want to go?" He asked, begrudginly. Shiro extended her arm and pointed to a stand, the sign outside proudly displaying a sign advertising that they sold "The best damn chocolate cake in the whole of Japan!" Shiro grabbed Ganta's hand and dragged him across the walkway, while he fished some coins from his back pocket, trying to seperate the ride tokens from his remaining money. "Cake! Cake!" Shiro chanted.
He couldn't say no to Shiro, no matter how much he protested, she would always get her way in the end.
"Two please," Ganta said to the vendor, handing over his money. The vendor nodded, sliding two slices of cake into a paper bag and handing it to Ganta. "Here you go!" he said with a cheery smile. "One for you, and one for your girlfriend."
"I...it's not like that...we...we're not...she isn't...I...uh..." Ganta tried to explain, while attempting to drag Shiro away from the stand in the hope that she didn't hear what he had said.
"Ganta!" Shiro said, while Ganta tried to pull her toward a more secluded part of the park, away from the crowds. "GANTA!" Shiro repeated, louder this time. "Why did you tell that man that we aren't friends?"
"I didn't say tha- that's not wh-what he asked!" he searched desperatly for an explaination.
"The man said 'On for you and on for your girlfriend.' and Ganta said 'It's not like that.' Why did you say we aren't friends?" Shiro said, sitting on the ground and begining to eat the cake.
"Girlfriend doesn't mean-...I don't think you understand." He sat down hext to her.
"Shiro understands! Shiro is a girl. Shiro is Ganta's friend. So Shiro is Ganta's girlfriend!" Shiro said, crossing her arms.
"Shiro...a girlfriend is...Um..." Ganta tried to think of an example. He failed. "A girlfriend is...When a boy likes a girl, she's a...a friend. When a boy loves a girl, and a girl loves a boy, she's his girlfriend...usually." It was the best explaination he could come up with at such short notice.
"Oh." Shiro said, eyes widening. "But Shiro does love Ganta!" She smiled. Ganta blinked in suprise. "What?"
"Shiro. Loves. GANTA!"
"I love you too, Shiro."
Shiro's smile grew wider, and she squealed in delight as she leanded forward and hugged Ganta. "So is Shiro Ganta's girlfriend?"
"If you want to be." Shiro nodded to him, and grabbed his hand. "Ferris wheel!" she said, as they both realised that twenty minutes had already gone by.
Ganta smiled as they stood up. "Ok, girlfriend."
