It didn't matter that we had a fight over the phone that morning over my difficulty vocalizing how much I loved him. It didn't matter that we'd been fighting since he went to Moscow for a job, leaving me behind in Paris. It didn't matter that he had tattoos and my mother disapproved of them. It didn't matter that I slept in a cold, empty bed for weeks while he was away.
What mattered was that the ring on his finger had "I love you" engraved on the inside of it. What mattered was that he always came home to me. What mattered was that his latest tattoo was my name, "Arthur", over his heart, and my mother also disapproved of my "Eames" tattoo over my own. What mattered was that we get to spend the rest of our lives snug in our warm bed.
