Hello everyone! This is a quick one shot that messes with the idea of Asexual!Sherlock. I wrote this for a reason and would like some help with something. To see what I need help with, please check out my note at the bottom of the page.
I own nothing.
Enjoy!
"Sherlock, you mustn't be so rude towards everyone!" John scolded his friend. Sherlock stood by the window, scowling at the London skyline. He didn't reply to any of John's lecturing comments.
"All she did was ask you on a date. You might've cost Lestrade one of his friends!" John continued.
When Sherlock remained silent, he let out a frustrated groan and turned to leave the room.
"Wrong."
"What?" John asked, whipping around to face his flatmate.
"You're wrong. She didn't just ask me out on a date."
John furrowed his eyebrows as he glanced at Sherlock questioningly.
"You were on the other side of the table and were unable to see said victim's hand running up my thigh. You also missed the obvious way she attempted to display her cleavage."
John sputtered as Sherlock turned to face him and added, "She wanted something more than a date. Something I have no interest in or desire for."
John stood in silence for a moment before muttering, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I, simply put, am asexual. I have to desire to partake in that sort of relationship. I've always been that way and always will be that way."
Sherlock watched with a hint of amusement as his flatmate stood gaping like a fish for several moments, attempting to process this information, "It shouldn't be that surprising, John."
"It's not," John assured him. "I just never expected you to say it outright."
There was another pause before John resumed his scolding, "You didn't need to reveal every embarissing detail of her life, though."
"Some people just won't except it. Her body language told me she was one of those people. I didn't wish to reveal something rather personal and create a scene," Sherlock waved off the comment.
"You managed to make a scene anyway," John fumed.
"Asexuals experience more discrimination than you would believe. Letting everyone know about it would no doubt have made an even larger commotion and led to some rather nasty comments," Sherlock grimaced. John could tell he spoke from experience.
"Alright, but if Lestrade comes around complaining, you are doing all the explaining and I'm staying out of it."
He turned to leave the room, for real this time, and barely caught a few mumbled words before the silence was filled by the vibrato of a violin.
"Thank you, John."
So here's the deal.
I'm asexual and I've come out to a few of my friends about it, but I need help telling my family.
I mentioned it to my mom and she says I'm too young to think about that sort of thing. It's really bothering me because I'm very close to them and want to talk to them about it, but I'm scared to. Any advice?
Thanks for reading and comments.
