It killed him to watch his best friend's heart be broken over and over again.
Lysander always put way too much of his heart into all of his relationships. He made himself vulnerable. Those wicked Weasley girls were, well, wicked. They, each in their own turn, would pick at that Scamander twin's defenseless heart like scavenging crows. All of them had taken a piece of the poor blond's heart at one time or another.
The most recent one was Dominique – part Veela… Ickk…
Scorpius had tried desperately to warn him against getting too attached to her because she was no different from her evil cousins and sister. He had tried to tell him not to believe a word that came out of those perfect lips and not to get trapped in those ice blue eyes. Lysander wouldn't listen to his friend's advice. "She's different." "I have a good feeling about her."
Scorpius was right, of course.
But he was always there to comfort Lysander and to retrieve what was left of his mangled heart. He never pointed out how his friend had, yet again, been wrong about the girl – he would never do that. All Scorpius wanted was for Lysander to move on to someone better, to someone who deserved to be in possession of his fragile heart.
He knew the perfect person.
"But if you asked me this one time
I swear I wouldn't let you down
I swear I'll do my best to keep you around"
Scorpius didn't mean to fall in love with his best friend, he really didn't. It was just that he was always there for Lysander and they just clicked somehow.
He wished that Lysander would realize that he was probably the only person on the earth who would never dream of breaking his heart. No, Scorpius loved his smile way too much to ever think of hurting him.
He didn't want to risk their friendship by telling Lysander, though, since he was unsure if Lysander would return his feelings.
Scorpius would stand by his best friend's side even if he never noticed the way that Scorpius felt about him. Scorpius just hoped that maybe someday Lysander would realize that he should have been chasing a Malfoy all this time and not wasted his time chasing Wealseys.
The lyrics are from the song "Love Through Postcards" by The Scene Aesthetic. They are an awesome band and their songs are really cute so go check them out. The singers are yummy, too, so yeah...

This is the first time that I have written a slash fic, well, unless you count "Set the Record Straight"... Anyway, I will probably end up writing at least one more fic for these two because I have another idea.
