"Hey, Panda! Wanna fight me?" I can hear my friend calling from the other side of the cafeteria.
Dammit. I just wanna eat my pizza sometimes... Eh. I'll fight him. Might shut him up.
"Yeah, sure," I say, "Just don't use that cheap Blue deck."
We sit at the table, where a crowd already starts to gather.
"Alright. Let's do this." I say. And the duel for honor and rank begins.
We stand at opposite ends of the battlefield. His half is surrounded by water. Damn.
At least I have the muddy ground I'm comfortable on.
He begins first, as we normally do. He gestures, and a landform appears from the water. Mana to use in spells. Luckily, he has nothing to do with it now.
My move. I search for an area to summon. A swamp. Perfect. I call on the mana stored in the land and summon a tormented soul. Can't attack with it just yet, but no way he could block it either.
On his next turn, he simply summons a second land and lets me go. Idiot. Can't use slow spells against me.
I summon a second land, call on the mana from both, and use a dark favor spell on my zombie. I can feel the life it saps leaving me, but no matter. He'll feel his wounds more.
I send my tormented soul to attack, and he's forced to take it, leaving him injured. Not enough yet.
I let him move. Still, he only summons a land. He's either playing me into his hand, or mana-flooded.
It's probably not the second. It never is.
I call forth a third land. Hmph. He can't win this time. I use the mana from all three lands to summon a grim guardian, sapping his life with every new spell I cast, and then command my zombie minion to attack. Perfect.
I think.
He brings forth another land. Finally, he does something other than just that, summoning a weak-ish creature. Not like it'll stop the damage I'll doing.
I summon my fourth and last land available, using two to summon two other tormented souls and the others to get unholy power bestowed on both of them, then finish with an attack with the first soul. More damage from me.
He doesn't summon a land this turn. Must be out for now, but he does attack with his weak creature. Can't block it with the zombies, but that's why I have my guard. Whatever. I'll take it anyways. The pain from the blow lingers for a second, then dissipates.
My move. The last. I use my full mana to get a vampire's mark on my lead zombie, then attack with all three and my guard.
"That's six, nine, twelve, thirteen damage this turn, and with you being forced to take twelve, and with you at three with my Constellation ability on the Grim Guardian, you're just a bit dead. Now let me go to biology. I have an exam."
