THIS STORY IS MARY SUE! IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T READ IT!

Author's Notes: I wanted to write a Star Trek something due to dreaming of Data. Evacuation (which can be found elsewhere) was first. This came next. Kinsellan flits are the creation of Jessica Dragontamer and you may be able to still contact her for one of your own.

The Enterprise wreckage was a hive of activity. Everyone everywhere was going through the ship, carrying personal items and equipment or just surveying the damage. It was a sad sight to behold for all of them. Most of the personnel had spent over seven years on the ship. It was going to be very hard to say goodbye to her. Even the temporary transfers were emotional, because for a lot of them, it had been their dream to serve on board the flagship of the Federation. Their dreams shouldn't have had to have been crushed so soon.

Lisa, Data and Deanna were walking through the ship, scanning the debris with tricorders. Jamie was riding on Lisa's shoulder, using his Empathic abilities to help with the search.

"It has been extremely difficult, Counselor." Data was saying.

"Well, then, why did you decide not to remove the emotion chip?" Deanna asked.

"Because he knows I'd kill him if he did." Lisa said, not looking up from her tricorder readings. They all knew she was only teasing and Data went along with it.

"That fact did factor largely in my decision, yes," he said, glancing at her and returning her smile. "In addition, at first, I was unprepared for the unpredictable nature of emotions. However, having experienced two hundred sixty-one distinct emotional states, I believe I have learned to control my feelings. They will no longer control me."

"Well," said Deanna, smiling, "I hope you're successful, Data."

"And," Lisa added, "if he ever needs help, he'll have me, because I am not going anywhere."

Deanna hid a chuckle. Her tricorder beeped. "Data, over here, I found something – one life sign, very faint."

Lisa, Jamie and Data went over to her and the android began digging through the debris. He removed a panel and revealed Spot sitting in the wreckage.

"Spot!" he exclaimed with delight and relief.

"Meow!" the cat called out, which Lisa understood as, "About time!"

Lisa smiled and knelt at Data's side as he gently pulled the tabby out from the tube she was hiding in. "I am very happy to see you, Spot," he said, burying his face in the dusty orange fur. She purred happily and Jamie came over to nuzzle her.

Deanna grinned. "Another family reunited."

Lisa felt tears welling up in her eyes, but it wasn't all her. Data had begun to cry.

"Data," Deanna said softly, "are you all right?"

He shook his head. "I am uncertain, Counselor." He turned and revealed the golden tears slipping from his eyes. "I am happy to see Spot, yet I am crying. Perhaps the chip is malfunctioning."

Both Lisa and Deanna exchanged a knowing look. Lisa put her arms around him and Spot. "I think it's working just fine," she said.

Deanna stood and walked away as Data laughed through his tears and held the cat up so he could look her at her properly. "Hello, Spot."

She meowed again and Lisa translated for him. "She's happy to see you, too. And so are we." She reached over to scratch Spot behind her ears. After a moment, she straightened. "Ready to go, Data?" she asked. "Anything else left?"

"No," he said. "I believe I have salvaged everything I could. You?"

She nodded. "Same here." She looked at Jamie and Spot. "You two ready?"

Yes.

"Most definitely!"

Lisa smiled and brought Jamie up to perch on her shoulder and put her arm around Data's waist. He held Spot and tapped his comm. badge. "Data to Farragut…beam us aboard."
