"You wanted one, didn't you?"

Sora's mind played over his conversations from the day as he lay in bed that night.

Earlier, one of his two only kind friends, Riku, had stopped him on the way back from an area they regularly visited, and tossed him a strange yellow star-shaped fruit, with a single green leaf. A paopu fruit. Sora caught the citrus and looked down at it, letting his fingers play across it's fuzzy surface. The texture resembled a pear.

Sora remembered times as a young child when he had climbed the trees that smattered the coast line of the small island, in a futile attempt to obtain such a fruit.

"If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each other's lives no matter what. C'mon, I know you want to try it. "

A small grin appeared on his face.

Riku always helped him. Even though he had pretended to hate it due to their constant rivalry, he was always secretly gratefull.

Sadly, he had tossed the fruit over the bridge and into the shallows of the coast. He hadn't wanted to, but his competitive side had forced him to disregard the present, taking it instead as a challange. He raced to catch up to the older boy.

Sitting up in his bed, Sora looked out the window. The moon was full, sending a jaggad reflection over the ocean surface.

"Whoever wins gets to share a paopu with Kairi."

The boy closed his eyes. He tried to recall his feelings when Riku had said that. They had been strong, but WHAT were they? Confusion? Awkwardness? He hadn't expected Riku to say that.. He head been in shock. He had expected to share said fruit with his best friend. Even the idea of Riku not wanting to share one with himself made him sad, and a little anxious.

Dismissing his thoughts, he looked over at his wall clock. It was 12:00 A.M. Time to go to sleep...

He lay his head down on his pillow, pulling the soft cotton sheets over his thin figure.

"WTF?!" He jumped up, out of bed, and grabbed his wodden practice sword. Something was in the bed...

Sora quickly jerked off the sheets to see that it was...

A sock.

He laughed a little and sat his sword aside, climbing back into bed and closing his eyes, drifting off, in a light sleep until the next morning.
