Maximum Ride and the Shadow Sapphire

A Maximum Ride/Secrets of the Shadow Sapphire crossover

By Joey Taylor (Pyroitamine)

This crossover takes place after the end of Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports, while following the Bad Ending of The Secrets of the Shadow Sapphire.

Chapter 1

"NO!! NO!!"

Joey had no idea how he was going to get out of this mess. He was so sure that destroying the Shadow Sapphire would be easy work for him and his friends. But Batami Saphiya proved too powerful. Patrick. Stephanie. Jane, the love of Joey's life. Seth, Joey's best friend. King Sparky, ruler of Saphiya Realm. They were all dead, and Batami was to blame.

And now that the acid rain had melted Joey's body, Batami was free of his human host. And Joey was lost in total darkness once again. Pyroitamine, the talking lion, stood there, waiting for him.

"I have to go back. There's gotta be a way I can get back!" Joey begged. Pyroitamine sighed.

"You have one last chance. But whether or not you succeed…you will die again. And stay dead."

Joey's heart sank once again. Pyroitamine went on to tell them that he could revive Joey for two hours, under the condition that he would have to forfeit his life permanently.

"Whatever it takes to make things right again, Pyroitamine." Pyroitamine smiled.

"I'm proud of you, Joey." With one loud roar, and a bright flash of red light, Joey couldn't see or hear anything for a while.

Joey lay on the ground, his vision still impaired but recovering slowly. He could still make out the figure standing above him. It was a teenage girl, with dirty blond hair. Her jeans were ripped, but her black leather jacket was still in one piece.

What weird clothes for an angel, Joey thought.

Yes, an angel. Because the very first thing Joey noticed was the pair of soft, white wings on her back.

"Are you okay?" she asked while offering her hand.

"What did he do…? Am I still dead?" Joey muttered to himself. The girl shot a puzzled look at Joey, while Joey took her hand as she helped him up.

This person needs your help in saving the world, said the Voice in the girl's head. She knew all too well to heed its warnings.

"My name is Max Ride. I can help you with…whatever it is you need."

Joey knew better than to question an offer like that. Especially now, when he needed it the most.

"I'm Joey, and I've got a lot to explain to you before you're ready to help anyone."
