It had been such a long day and Nick was more than happy to finale get home. He smiled as he inhaled the aroma of the roast Adalind was cooking. He could also hear Trubel playing with Kelly while Adalind laughed at their antics.
Opening the gate on the elevator, Nick walked into that beautiful scene. He first went to Kelly, as his son had let out a delighted squeal at seeing him, saying hello to Trubel before picking Kelly up and playing noisy kisses on his little cheeks, neck and belly.
He looked over to Adalind, who wore a look on her face Nick knew he would never get enough of. It was one of peace, joy, contentmint and (maybe it was wishful thinking on Nick's part) of love.
Setting Kelly back down with Trubel, Nick moved over to the kitchen area, as close to Adalind as he could justify.
"Hey"
"Hi, what's in the box" Adalind indicated the object Nick had set down on the table before he had gone over to greet Kelly.
Nick grinned, "Voodoo donuts. Hank and I got a case on the same street and were able to wrap it up before the shop closed, so I figured I would bring some home."
Adalind was about to express how sweet and thoughtful she thought he was, but was interrupted with a muffled "Wow these are really good"
Nick and Adalind looked up and saw that Trubel had shoved half a donut in her mouth. They laughed, seeing she had Kelly in one arm and was giving him a little pit of icing that she had gotten on her finger.
"Trubel!" Adalind exclaimed, "dinner will be ready soon"
"It smells really good" Trubel said, completely unfazed over Adalind's concern.
Adalind realized she should know better. Since Trubel had been staying with them, leftover were nonexistent. The girl and the appetite and metabolism of a teenage boy.
Adalind looked up at Nick, who was just smiling at her. She just shook her head and said to him, "I hope you hid a couple for yourself, they might not make till dessert.
Nick chuckled "I'm not to worried" then he whispered softly in her ear "I could always have you"
Adalind's jaw dropped and a blush covered her face. Nick just smirked at her and said in a normal tone "Is there anything you need me to help you with."
