Gwen

Dearest Gwen,

I want to try to explain to you what happened on the rooftop of the Oscorp building the night that your father died.

Let me start of by saying (as you know) he died heroically trying to buy me time from Doc. Connors to get to the top of the aerial antenna to add the antidote to the machine. During the climb up I can only presume that Connors must have done something to him. After I stopped Connors it was me who was there with him, for him, in his final moments (you'd have been there, I know), but it was him who made me promise to stay away from you, it wasn't a decision I would have made anytime soon, as you are worth more to me than I think I can currently admit so close to his & my uncle Ben's passing. Please believe me when I say that your father's death was the last thing I was expecting, or wanted, when I became Spiderman, and battled with Connors' "Lizard" persona, and that I WAS there at the funeral, but stayed hidden in order to avoid confrontation about what happened that night, & to keep to the final promise. BUT, over the past few weeks it's becoming increasingly difficult for me to do so – There's something about you Gwen Stacey, something magnetic. I DID promise to stay away from you that night, but that doesn't necessarily mean that YOU must stay away from ME… So, if you ever wish, come over sometime, say hello.

Yours always,

Peter Parker
