"And who knew? Who new things would end up like this?" Cal pondered sitting up on his bed. He stare at his Pokemon, sleeping and then at Lily. He thought back, back to the very beginning of his adventures…
"Cal! We called you for breakfast 5 minutes ago!" Cal's mother angrily called up the staircase. "I am sorry I was in the bath!" Cal retorted whilst angrily stomping down the stairs carrying his backpack. "I don't like your attitude!" his mother replies, glaring at him. They then spend the next few minutes angrily staring at each other while eating cold cereal. The cold glares they were giving each other cold freeze a Slugma. Thankfully for Cal though, the sound of his bus roaring down the street saved him from this icy hell.
Cal slowly climbed into the bus silently. It was just like any other day anyway. No one would sit next to him anyway, so he did not care where he sat. He liked the window seat because he could look outside, at all the views. He never got tired of doing this. The bus zoomed down the streets of Vermilion city. Past the Pokemart, then the Pokemon Center and finally screeched to a halt in front the school and Cal and the other kids hurried out.
The bell began to ring as Cal trudged down the hall. "Ugh, Biology class." Cal thought. "Well, at least the teacher is nice." Waking into class, he put his bag on his desk as he sat down along with his classmates. Then Professor Gold came in. The discussion, if you could call that was about the Scientific classification of certain Pokemon. To be fair, he tried his best to make it interesting but miserably failed.
The bell rang after and all of the kids stood up to get to recess. "Mr. Tenon!" The Professor called and Cal turned his head. "Could you please see me now?" Cal got nervous. "Please follow me!" The Professor said, beckoning him into the Biology Laboratory. Walking in the Laboratory, he opened a cabinet.
"W-wh-what is i-it s-sir?" Cal nervously asked. "You do not seem to be very social in class, not that you avoid people, but that no one notices you. I would like to give you this." he said, finding what he was looking for, which was a Pokeball. "A-a-a Poke-mon? You're giving it to me? For f-free? Cal nervously stuttered out. Without a word, The Prof. Handed him the ball.
After a few seconds of nervously clutching the ball, Cal finally had nerve to press the button in the center of the ball. A red light glowed for a second and then dissipated. What replaced the light was a short, light green Pokemon standing on 4 legs. "Chika" It said. "A Chikorita?" He asked, looking up at his teacher. "Not just any Chikorita, in the PC, I reprogrammed her genetics. Now it is able to talk Pokemon and English." "Yeth, ith true." The Chikorita said with a bit a lisp. "Wow!" was all Cal said. "I'll call her Lily".
That recess, Lily began to warm up to Cal, and Cal to Lily. They played together. They did not know, however, someone was watching them enviously. The bell finally rang and all of the students ran back into the school, Cal returning Lily to her ball.
After school, Cal began to walk Lily home since he couldn't afford to be driven both ways. "Hey Nerd!" called a voice from behind him. Cal shivered, it was Dameon, the school bully. "I heard you got yourself a Pokeyman. Hand it over." "No way!" Cal snapped. Dameon flinched, as no one ever talked to him like that before. "Fine! We'll have to do this the hard way!" Dameon groaned. As he threw a Pokeball of his own.
