Sentence or Murder?
A/N: Random one-shot.
Summary: Booth's having nightmares about the supposed murder. Post Man in the Cell. Booth's POV
Disclaimer: I humbly acknowledge that I do not own Bones.
Was it a murder? Or was it an accident? I'll never know. I don't really know what Gordon Gordon did, but it made the nightmares go away. Well, it made them go away after they changed dramatically.
They always used to be about the fall. Sometimes he would slip, sometimes he would let go, but most of the time, I let go. I let go of the man that killed his wife and five other women. I let go of the man that nearly killed my girlfriend. I let go of the man that tried to kill my partner, my best friend, and the love of my life: my Bones. Wait a second. Love of my life? Yeah, okay that's true. I love Bones.
But did I murder Howard Epps? Or did he slip from my grasp? I don't really know. But after some of the sessions with Gordon, the nightmares changed. I saw my mouth saying something before he fell. I couldn't quite make out what I said…not until I said something. In the last nightmare, I could hear what I said. And for some reason, there was a judge on my right, and Caroline Julian on my left. Caroline started by saying "Howard Epps," to, which I continued with: "You are sentenced to death." The judge then banged her gavel on the railing and I let go of Epps.
So was it a murder? Or was it an accident? I'll never know. But somehow I think that it was neither. I'm pretty sure it was a sentence.
A/N: Please review. It'll make my day.
