DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN FRUITS BASKET. I DO HOWEVER OWN MINA.

Shigure Sohma had just dog-eared his book. When low and behold Kyo tumbled through the door. It seems like Yuki had beaten him again. When the young rat followed much more calmly into the room, Shigure informed them of the arrival of their childhood freind, Mina. They hadn't seen her for awhile, she had been visiting her grandmother for the past few weeks in another city.

Shigure had just finished the announcement and was about to make tea; unfortunately, it seems fate had another idea. The door flew open to reveal Mina, he long brown hair was pulled into a high pony and she wore a knee-length red dress with a golden butterfly pattern. She rushed forward and pounced on Kyo, her lavender eyes glittering as she exclaimed,"Kyo! I've missed you!" Then she turned to Yuki and hugged him as well, exclaiming her sorrow for leaving.

You see, Mina knew of the curse and was able to hug them without them changing. Lastly, she noticed the stuned Shigure and smiled at the dog, commenting on how nice it was for him to allow her into his home. For the next hour, Mina, Yuki, and Kyo talked and laughed. Before long, the door opened once again to submit the cow and rabbit of the zodiac. As soon as Mina noticed them she wrapped her arms around them and proceeded to squeeze the life from their bodies. When Momiji started to turn blue, Hatsuharu pointed out that if they died, she no longer would be able to hug them. This quickly made her let go. They ate dinner Kyo so graciously prepared afterwards. The teens played games as Shigure continued to harass his editor through the phone.

As the sun set, Haru informed Mina of the late hour and offered to walk her home. She accepted and the two slipped out the door. As neither of them had a good sense of direction, they ended up lost. And not until later did Yuki realize his mistake in letting them go alone. But the cow nor Mina really mind getting lost. Not long after wandering the streets, did Mina and Hatsuharu get tired. They stopped to rest on a park bench. Haru noticed an ice cream vendor across the way and offered to buy Mina some. She nodded excitedly and he jogged towrads the vendor.

Little was she aware of her surroundings that she did not notice the man sidle up to her. She did not notice how close he was until his breath tickled the back of her neck. She took a giant step forward and whipped around. The man was skinny, dirty, and thouroughly unpleasant. The girl was afraid. Part of her, the primitive part, screamed for her to get away. That man was trouble with a capital T. R. O. U. B. L. E. Just as the guy was about to wrap his arm around her waist, the man was knocked back by a fist. Mina followed the fist to an arm to a shoulder and up to a face. Hatsuharu spare a quick glance to make sure she was alright before soundly beating the bad guy to a bloody mess. Afterwards, Haru barely had time to catch his breath before being squeezed by the grateful girl.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" "You're welcome." he somehow spoke through her constricting hug. She lifted onto her tiptoes and planted a quick kiss upon his lips. When she pulled away, her face was fire-truck red and Haru was in a state of shock.

Each had feelings for the other, but did not act upon them in fear of ruining the freindship. Just now were they realizing the feelings of the other.

A grin spread across his face and he wrapped his arms around the petit girl. She buried her flaming face in his neck and mumbled some incoherentness. Haru thought he could pick up the words "my hero". He smiled bigger and held her tighter, reassuring her that he would always be there for her.
