A Path of Regret
I look down and see
flames that lick the ground.
People scream and people flee.
from the wrath brought down.
Cunning and wise,
I always thought
she was the perfect mentor.
I've realized now,
she's only a tormentor.
Sudden doubt fills my soul.
Instant regret,
tears refuse to roll
down my cheek.
Undying devotion,
destroyed as the city.
Unending loyalty, gone.
What a pity.
Fear and restraint
trap me here.
No escape,
a prison of her making.
I did what I had to,
and I never imagined
that it would leave me here,
my heart slowly breaking.
