It was about a month after Jonas left the dull community behind him. Gabe has grown and they had been taken in by a lovely woman Nina. To Jonas, Nina was his birthmother. Jonas awoke one morning to the swirling song of Nina playing music. Oh, how Jonas wished Fiona were here to listen. Fiona was still in Jonas's mind. Aswell as Asher.

"Did I ever tell you how I got here?" Jonas asked Nina. "More than once, that's for sure," she replied with a smile, interupting the tune.

"I apologize for interupting your music," Jonas laughed, remembering his foolish past of the community. Gabe giggled at the words. Gabe had learned how to talk and walk, and he was sleeping quite soundly. Jonas fell back asleep. He dreamed of the Giver. He dreamed the same dream of him wanting Fiona in the bathtub. He remembered 'Mother' and 'Father'. He remebered Asher and the stirrings. The pill and the Elders. Everything. The release video of the twin made him have pain the most. By now, there would be a new reciever to fit Jonas's place. Their name being spoken louder.

Jonas was determined that morning to get Fiona and Asher into this new community. This new, wonderful life of music and love. Gabe ate his pancakes happily. "Gabe, don't you miss Asher and Fiona? They were my best friends. Asher would be happy to see me, and maybe I might marry Fiona if she isn't already," Jonas day-dreamed. Nina came in with some more pancakes. Gabe eyed them. "No Gabe, these are for Jonas and I. If you're good, I'll make you some more," she said in that special voice.

Jonas snuck out that night with his car. He drove out towards the community. A bit away from the first community, Jonas drove hidden into the forest, go out of his car and walked there. He went about the houses and looked in the windows silently. He found Fiona sleeping. Silently, he crept in the window. "Fiona?" he said, shaking her. She woke, startled at Jonas's presence. "Jonas! Are you okay? Where have you been?" she asked. Fiona looked much older. Her figure had changed. "Yes, where's Asher?" he asked. "He signed for release when you went missing," she said. Holding back tears, Jonas continued, "I want to show you something. Please, just break the rules once and leave your dwelling. Get some warm clothes on overtop of your night clothes and follow me"

After she was done, Jonas led her to the car. "Are we even supposed to be here?" she asked, fear in her eyes. "I'll explain when we get there," he said. "Where are we going!" Fiona demanded.

"Elsewhere," Jonas replied.
