Let's get one thing straight here; I don't give a rat's ass what you believe in, or what you don't believe in. I don't care if you believe that heaven is a bunch of fluffy clouds or a big ass black hole in the ground.

The only thing I know is I am sure as hell not where I'm supposed to be.

Mai Taniyama was this close. Just a tiny, little push from either turning into a vicious monster or a sobbing mess on the floor. She didn't know what it was about today. Maybe she got up on the wrong side of the bed? Perhaps her tea was a little too bitter? All she knew was that she had to get out of the SPR office stat before she imploded on herself.

The office in question was an absolute disarray of dark energy, and not because it was possessed by something.

The ever-mysterious Lin had shut himself in his office to type something official and important and could not be disturbed under pain of death. Outside the darkness of Lin's typing chamber, Masako was talking to the big boss, Naru the narcissist, in hushed tones and giggled in places that made Mai far too mad to deal with. Even worse, Naru didn't looked displeased at all, in fact, he looked neutral, which as far as Naru is concerned, is the closest he gets to looking anywhere on the spectrum of somewhat pleased. On the other side of the office, Ayako and Monk where characteristically screaming at each other. The screaming, which normally subsided after Naru shot them with a glare, was raging on in unstoppable fashion today.

Add that to the all the rain they've been getting, and Mai was ready to call it quits and look herself in her room with a couple of fuzzy blankets and a pot of tea until the end of time.

"Mai!" Mai jumped. "Did you remember to get that number I asked you for?" Ayako napped, breaking her string of harping at Monk.

"Oh, I'm sorry Ayako, they told me he do-"

"Ugh, never mind, I'll find him myself. It can't be that hard to find the number of a monk that we need the help of on this case, seeing as we need a monk that actually works," she hissed in Monk's direction, "I guess if we need something done, I have to go and do it myself."

"-doesn't live in Japan anymore…" Mai finished lamely as Ayako brushed past, not hearing a word.

Mai sighed. It was that kind of day. Ayako wasn't always mean, sometimes she was even like a mother, but when she had her days, she had them like a hurricane. Even Monk was unlike himself, huffed over on one side of the couch.

"You know, sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it to work here anymore."

Mai looked in surprise at Monk, who was staring off into space. That really cut deep. Mai thought of SPR as her little makeshift family; today was just a bad day. It couldn't really end like this, could it?

"Mai." A monotone said from the other side of the room. She looked to see Naru standing with his arms crossed, "Tea." And with that, he walked down the hall into his office, followed closely by Masako.

She softly sighed and got up to make a pot of tea. Perhaps, she thought, a nice, hot cup of tea would make everyone feel a little better. As she walked towards the cabinet, she kept her mind in a positive direction; after all, the mind could do amazing things. With that thought, she managed a small smile.

Opening the cupboard door, her stomach dropped 20 stories. No, no, this can't be. Her mind raced, this wasn't possible. Please, anything but this.

The SPR office was completely out of tea.
