Xander Harris sat on the floor of his bedroom with his girlfriend, Cordelia
Chase. They were surrounded by boxes of letters, photos, and all sorts of
things Xander had collected over the years. Cordy picked up a shoe box and
sifted through it. She pulled out a worn, yellowed baseball card and looked
at it curiously. She turned to Xander.
"Why do you have an old baseball card in here? I thought you tossed them all
last year?"
Xander glanced up from the stack of photos he had been looking at and saw the
card she was holding up. Cordy jumped back in surprise as Xander suddenly
snatched the card from her hand. She watched intently as her boyfriend sat
staring at the card for a long while. Xander turned away from her and she
placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Xander? Are you OK?"
Xander turned to look at her, tears streaming down his face.
"What's wrong, Xand?"
Xander choked out a sob. "I forgot about him, Cor, I promised myself I
wouldn't but I did!"
Xander laid his head in her lap, sobbing quietly. Cordy just held him,
muttering words of comfort.

Xander held tightly to Cordelia's hand as they walked quietly through the
cemetery the next morning. Cordy glanced up at Xander, she felt so bad for
him. He had been crying all night and his eyes were red-rimmed. Xander
stopped by a grave in the middle of the cemetery and let go of her hand. She
stepped back and watched as he knelt by the grave and put his hand into his
pocket. He spoke to the grave.
"Hey buddy...can you believe it's taken me this long to come visit you?
Listen...I'm sorry....I'm sorry that you dies and that I got the life you
wanted. The girl you wanted..."
He looked to Cordy and gave her a slight smile, then looked back to the
grave.
"I got to graduate but you weren't there beside me...I'm sorry that I never
cried after you died...until yesterday....Cordy found your baseball
card...you know, the one I took and wouldn't give back to you..."
Xander took his hand from his pocket, holding the baseball card and a
lighter.
"I want you to have this...I'm going to burn it so the ashes can join your
ashes..."
He lit the corner of the card and watched as it slowly burned over the grave.
When the entire card had turned to ashes, Xander stood and brushed off his
hands. He gave a last glance at the grave.
"Good-bye Jessie....I won't forget you..."
He turned and walked over to Cordy. He gave a sigh of relief.
"It's been five years since I killed him and it's finally over..."
Cordy gave him a comforting smile and they walked hand in hand out of the
cemetery and into a new life.
