Glen Hansard - Falling Slowly Lyrics
IMPORTANT AUTHOR NOTE: Before you read this, I strongly recommend typing "Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard" into youtube and listening to this beautiful song, the fanfic will have much more meaning this way.
This is my first songfic, I had just been writing a Harry Potter fanfic and I looked at the lyrics of the song and they seemed to fit so well. Please leave a review to let me know what you think.
I saw you that first day at the station, you were the famous Harry Potter, and yet I knew hardly anything about you.
I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
You came to stay with us in the summer and I couldn't talk while you were in the same room.
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
I was so stupidly obsessed with you, but I could tell that you only thought of me as Ron's kid sister, so I tried to move on like Hermione said, go out with other people, but when it came down to it, you were always there at the back of my mind. Stupid Michael was so obsessed with winning that I dumped him, then came Dean, but there was never really room for him in my heart; when it came down to it, I was just playing a game, trying to forget. And then we kissed, and the games stopped.
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
We could have had months, years even, but I treasured those few weeks, the brief snatches of time we spent together.
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now
And then Dumbledore fell, Dumbledore was killed by Snape, and the world felt like it was falling apart. I remember how he was so good to me about the Chamber of Secrets, how frightened I'd been when I couldn't remember what had been happening; like someone had rubbed an eraser over my mind. I remember how I felt so guilty, and yet he told me I wasn't to blame.
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
And I couldn't argue with you when you told me that we can't be together anymore, couldn't make it more difficult for you when you'd already had so much pain in your life; you must have already argued with yourself, you didn't need to argue with me as well.
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won
The battle is over. We've got time now to make this work. And now we can take this sinking boat of a relationship, patch it up and send it home. You've made your choice, you've chosen me. I'm falling in love with you again and I'll follow you wherever you go.
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along.
