She's amazing.

Honestly, its a little hard to describe everything about her. She's suicidally overconfident, for a when she's talking to people— and you mean talking, not playing or manipulating them— she has no idea how to do it, so she defaults to Egg-head stuff and if you say you're her friend she just stares at you, like she doesn't understand why.

And she's smart. Not just with science-y stuff, but everything. She always has an answer, no matter what the question is. "Why is the sky blue? What do those monsters want with us? Are we going to make it?" But if she tries to plan more than five steps ahead, she'll forget something obvious thing and the whole plan will go to hell.

She an alien. It's hard to tell when she wears her outfit— A dark lavender vest and white dress shirt and bow tie, with a scarf wrapped around her that looked like it could engulf her twice— but under all that she's unnaturally thin, and the way she moves is just… odd. The way she looks at you, with eyes that have seen the birth of wonders we can't understand, or reacts to things we can't see… it's unreal. Some days she's scary. But some days she spends all of her time complaining about one of her books and wants to fix it, so she writes a new one, and it's so bad she tries to burn it before you can read it. You steal it, of course. You can't not.

Because she needs you.

She does need you, doesn't she?

She needs you to be there, to remind her to eat, and that even if she only needs three hours of sleep, she should still get them, and if you're not there one of these days she going to get herself killed—

But you're the one who needs to be rescued, aren't you?

...Some days, you're scared of her. They'll be some kind of alien menace, and she doesn't see it for what it is,she's looking at what it could be. And of course that's nice, except it isn't that thing yet, it's the thing it is now and it wants to eat her and she's going to die and do something—

And you nearly kill yourself saving her. And she doesn't like you almost dieing. So when you wake up, there isn't a monster anymore. There's just an awful lot of fire, and you ask where it came from, and she just gives you this look. And you want to help, but you don't know how. So you don't.

And doesn't that drive you mad?

There are nights when it keeps you up. Nights where it screams at you, why don't you just step up and do what needs to be done? Nights where it just bangs at you, in your head, and you can't make it go away.

She would hate you if she knew everything.

And you know it's coming ,the night where she finds out the truth and the two of you are enemies again. And that keeps you awake more than anything else.

Except then that mare just happens to drop by. And she does something to you that helps you sleep, and the banging in your head goes away. For now. Not forever.

But for now.
