"Ne, Tezuka."

"What is it, Fuji?" They were the only ones still left after practise ended about an hour ago.

"Hypothetically speaking, how would you react if someone confessed to you right now?"

Tezuka didn't even bat an eye as he calmly filled in the day's reports. "Hypothetically, I would tell her that I was very flattered, but I wish to concentrate solely on my tennis at the moment."

"Saa, I see."

They lapsed into silence. Tezuka finished with his paperwork and began to pack up his tennis bag. Then…

"Ne, Tezuka?" The other boy had not shifted from his spot at the window.

"Yes, Fuji?"

"I like you."

Hoisting his bag onto his shoulder, Tezuka walked over to Fuji's side and looked out at the tennis courts outside. "I see. I'm flattered."

Fuji turned his head to face him, still smiling that neutrally pleasant smile. It was a heartbreaking sight. "I understa—"

His words were swallowed by Tezuka's mouth upon his own, pressing him against the cold windowpane in a searing kiss. When Tezuka pulled away, Fuji's eyes were open, a deep stunning shade of sapphire-blue, and his smile had disappeared in a moment of shock.

Tezuka never thought he looked quite so beautiful as he did then.

"Tezuka?"

The taller boy offered him a small smile that on anyone else would've qualified as a smirk. "Not everything is hypothetical, Fuji."
